Compositions comprising an acrylamide polymer emulsion and a nonionic surfactant suitable for use as friction reducers for hydraulic fracturing are disclosed. The nonionic surfactants include aralkylated phenol ethoxylates, amine ethoxylates, amidoamine ethoxylates, linear or branched alcohol EO/PO alkoxylates, ethoxylated alcohols, alkylphenol ethoxylates, and EO-capped poly(oxypropylene) block copolymers. Improved hydraulic fracturing processes in which an acrylamide polymer emulsion is used as a friction reducer are also described. In these processes, the surfactant is included in the composition with the acrylamide polymer friction reducer, or it is introduced separately into the process. The performance of low-cost polyacrylamide friction reducers can be boosted with a small proportion of certain readily available nonionic surfactants. The inventive compositions are effective in high-salinity environments, and their performance can sometimes exceed that of more-expensive salt-tolerant friction reducers, thereby reducing fresh water demand and enabling greater utilization of produced water. 1. Substantially linear ethylene polymers, such as ethylene/octene copolymers and ethylene/propylene/diene modified polymers, when added in a viscosity modifying amount to an oleaginous material, such as a lubricating oil, provides the material with a viscosity index that exceeds that of the material alone. The substantially linear ethylene polymers, prepared by constrained geometry catalysis, may be grafted with one or more unsaturated organic compounds, such as maleic anhydride, that contain ethylenic unsaturation. The grafted polymer may be further functionalized by reactions with, for example, an alcohol or an amine compound. The substantially linear ethylene polymers, when subjected to shearing action either before or after addition to an oleaginous material, improve shear stability of the oleaginous material. The substantially li near ethylene polymers, whether grafted, grafted and further reacted or not, also work as a thickening agent for compositions such as those used in greases, cable filling coumpounds and cosmetics. In addition, the substantially linear ethylene polymers provide effective results when blended with other components of conventional oleaginous material compositions.

Polymers with h-bridge forming functionalities for improving anti-wear protection

The invention relates to lubricating oil formulations comprising copolymers or graft copolymers produced by radically polymerising polymerisable monomers and, in addition comprising long-chain ethylenically unsaturated compounds containing alkyl, in particular acrylate or methacrylate substitutes provided with hydrogen-bridge donator functions. The monomer exhibiting a hydrogen-bridge donator property is contained, according to said invention, in the polymer backbone or in graft side branches. Apart from the polymers containing monomers provided with hydrogen-bridge donator functions, said invention relates to polymers containing monomers simultaneously carrying donator and acceptor functions. It was found that the hydrogen-bridge donator functions of a polymer, in particular a simultaneous availability of the hydrogen-bridge donator and acceptor functions produce the positive effects on the anti-wear protection and on a detergency and dispersancy action. The inventive polymers are suitable, in the form of additives, for lubricating oil formulations, for example for motor oils or hydraulic fluids exhibiting an improved anti-wear behaviour.

The composition has a low viscosity, even at a high polymer content. Application: additive for improving the viscosity index of a lubricating oil.

The compound of the present invention and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof have selective and excellent coronary vasodilating action and extremely weak hypotensive action. Accordingly, it is possible to selectively increase the coronary blood flow without causing a sudden hypotention causative of tachycardia which has a detrimental effect on the heart, and they are useful as a coronary vasodilator, in particular, an agent for the prophylaxis and treatment of cardiovascular disorders such as angina pectoris and heart failure.

A grafted polyolefin containing one or more of N-vinylimidazole, 4-vinylpyridine, or other ethylenically-unsaturated nitrogen-containing or oxygen-containing graftable monomers grafted to a polyolefin copolymer is disclosed. The grafted polyolefin preferably has a weight average molecular weight of from about 20,000 to about 500,000, a polydispersity of less than about 10, and an ADT value of at least about 8. The grafted polyolefin can be defined as containing more than about 1.2% by weight of grafted monomer on a polyolefin, or as containing at least about 13 moles of graftable monomers per mole of polyolefin, or as having an asphaltene dispersancy test (ADT) value of at least about 8. Also described is a lubricating oil comprising a lubricant base oil and a grafted polyolefin as described above. Also described is a method of making a dispersant viscosity index improver. N-vinyl-imidazole or other ethylenically unsaturated nitrogen-containing and/or oxygen-containing graftable monomers and a graftable polyolefin are reacted with enough of an initiator to graft the monomer to the polyolefin. The initiator and/or graftable monomer is added to the other ingredients, maintained at the reaction temperature, over a period of time. The reaction temperature is maintained at a level high enough to give acceptable reaction times. The N-vinylimidazole and the initiator each can be added at a uniform, relatively slow rate during the reaction.

Das Monomer mit Wasserstoffbrücken-Donator-Eigenschaft befindet sich gemäß der Erfindung entweder im Polymerbackbone oder in den gepfropften Seitenästen. Neben Polymeren, die Monomere mit Wasserstoffbrücken-Donator-Funktion enthalten, werden auch solche offenbart, die Monomere enthalten, die gleichzeitig Wasserstoffbrücken-Donator- und Wasserstoffbrücken-Akzeptor-Funktionen tragen. Es wurde gefunden, dass die Wasserstoffbrücken-Donator-Funktionen im Polymer, insbesondere aber das gleichzeitige Vorliegen von Wasserstoffbrücken-Donator- und Akzeptor-Funktionen, positive Auswirkungen auf Verschleißschutz, Detergier- und Dispergierwirkung haben.
