It is also esp. suitable for canals with slight longitudinal fall, slow flow rate, high ground water level and poor bottom. For this reason the canal has to be lined. Dadurch kann sich das Auffangnetz (4) bei gefüllter Sperre so verformen, dass das dann überfliessende Wasser, Geschiebe, Treibgut usw. das Netz nicht oder nur geringfügig überspült. Damit ist es dauerhaft gegen die Korrosions- und Abrasionswirkung des darüberströmenden Wasserflusses sicher geschützt.

A system of debris-flow drainage canal with cascaded sills is provided, which allows a high-efficient and low-cost realization of debris flow drainage and scour prevention. The canal contains two converging walls and a series of scour prevention sills, which are laid between the two converging walls. The sills are embedded to a certain depth and are evenly spaced and symmetrical to the centre line of the canal to form a cascaded structure for scour prevention. The drainage canal's width is 2 times wider than the sill's horizontal length along the cross-section. Compared with the prior art, this system can drain off a wide variety of flows from debris flow to flood and prevent debris-flow siltation even on a gentle slope. This system has a much higher stability and longer life of service. Moreover, this system can maintain the aquatic habitat in gullies and contribute to ecological restoration. 1. An apparatus for separating out and removing screenings from wastewater includes a screening device having a screen surface through which the wastewater flows during operation of the screening device and screenings carried along in the wastewater are at least intermittently retained. The apparatus includes a sensor and a controller. The sensor monitors the screenings in the area upstream from the screen surface and/or in the area of the screen surface. The controller outputs a message when the screenings have one or several properties which have been defined and have been recognized by the sensor. In addition, a method for operating the apparatus and a system including the apparatus are provided.

Controlled-debris elements inhibit the formation of a fibrous/particulate debris bed that unduly increases the pressure head loss through the perforated plates of strainers in a nuclear power plant emergency core cooling system. In a loss of cooling accident, pumps draw cooling water through the plates, which retain on their surfaces fibrous material in the circulating water to prevent it from reaching the pumps while permitting entrained particulate matter to pass through the perforations. The controlled-debris elements have a specific gravity substantially the same as the circulating water so they are entrained in the cooling water that is drawn toward the strainers and intimately intermix with the fibrous and particulate matter in the cooling water. The elements are configured to provide open structures in the bed formed on the plate surfaces to distribute fibers in the flow away from the surface and maintain cavities between the elements for the particulates.

A method of designing a box-type energy-dissipating section of a box-type energy-dissipating mudflow diversion flume. Firstly, the longitudinal gradient J of the flume and the roughness coefficient n 0 of a fully-lined flume bottom () are determined. A composite polyamide reverse osmosis membrane and method of producing same. In a preferred embodiment, the membrane is made by coating a porous polysulfone support with an aqueous solution containing 2 wt % m-phenylenediamine (MPD), and 0.1 wt % di(ethylene glycol) hexyl methyl ether. Next, the excess solution is removed, and the coated support is dipped in 0.1 wt % organic solvent solution of trimesoyl chloride (TMC) in a mixture of alkanes having from 8 to 12 carbon atoms. After draining the TMC solution off, the resulting composite membrane is air dried and then rinsed in a basic aqueous solution. The resultant membrane exhibits a flux of 21.3 gfd and a salt rejection of 98.9% when used at 225 psi for an aqueous solution containing 2000 ppm of NaCl.
