A foldable ladder is disclosed having a central and two outer parallel support members or "stiles" and a plurality of steps connected between the central and the outer stiles. Each step is arranged to fold between an erected position, in which it extends generally at right angles to the longitudinal direction of each stile to which it is connected, and a storage position in which the step lies generally parallel to the central stile with the outer stile to which it is connected extending parallel to and in close juxtaposition wit the central stile. Engaging means are provided adjacent the upper end of the central stile for holding cooperating engaging means of a supporting member such as another ladder section (forming an extension ladder) or a prop extending to ground (forming a step ladder). Finally, at least one strut is arranged on each side of, and extends outwardly from, the central stile to support the steps and outer stiles when the latter are in the erected position.

A submergible activity platform for attachment to an associated structure on a body of water is disclosed. The activity platform for supporting persons engaged in water activities includes a platform area extending outwardly from and alongside the associated structure. A support structure is carried by the activity platform for mounting the activity platform to the associated structure so that the activity platform is located at a desired depth in the water when mounted to the associated structure. A walkway is included in for providing access between the associated structure and the activity platform when submerged. Each stringer comprises a carrier beam 1 and an adjuster 3 parallel to each other and movable in a relative, axial direction. Each tread is secured to the stringers by a first pivot 7 attaching an edge of the tread to the carrier beam and a second pivot 8 attaching the same edge to the adjuster of the same stringer. The adjuster may have an interference fit with and slide within the carrier beam, A worm-wheel or rack and pinion may affect the relative positioning between the carrier beam and adjuster. The carrier beam and adjuster may be secured by a ratchet. The adjustable steps may be suitable for providing horizontal treads up a slope of any gradient. A method of providing steps on a sloped surface is also claimed.

In this position, the links D and K are in alinement, as seen in Fig. 1. The links K, which are pivoted on the front stiles, may be formed as extensions of the adjacent tread. A ladder 11 has treads 14 pivotally connected to two side members 12, 13. An angling member 17 is provided parallel to the side members and is also connected to each tread by a hinge (19). When placed in a working position, the angling member contacts the ground, and acting in combination with the side members, causes the treads to assume a horizontal position. The treads lie substantially parallel to the side members for storage. A second angling member may also be provided. Preferably means are provided for attaching the ladder to an external support to prevent displacement of the ladder.

[Class 20 (ii).] A step-ladder is formed with the rear stay hinged to slides in the main front portion, so that it can be raised to convert the ladder into a long ladder. The ladder portion is formed of spaced uprights 10, 11 connected by diagonals 12 and crosspieces 13 which support the steps 14. The rear stay is formed of sides 22 connected by cross-pieces 25, is provided d with interconnected hinged steps 40, and is hinged to portions 20 carried by sliding portions 17 in the sides of the main portion, spring stops 36 being adapted to engage shoulders 29 to maintain the rear stay in extended position on the main portion. The rear stay is held parallel to the main portion by interengaging portions 19 and 38, 39, and by pins 30 in brackets 31. When used as a step-ladder, the slides are locked, as shown in Fig. 1, by the pins 30 engaging holes in the supports 13 for the lowest step.

A foldable step steel (10) includes a frame 12 having front and rear legs (14, 16) and top, middle, and bottom steps (34, 36, 38). A central step link (40) is coupled to the rear portion of each step (34, 36, 38) to support the steps when step stool (10) is unfolded and to control pivoting movement of the steps relative to front leg (14) during folding of step stool (10). A releasable latch (22) is coupled to a rear portion of top step (34) and configured to engage an upper cross strut (180) included in rear leg (16) to retain step stool (10) in an unfolded use position.

The adjustable switch has a handle, a position pin disposed at one end of the handle and an elastic element disposed at the other end of the handle.

For use as an accessory with a multi-purpose vehicle having enclosed and rooftop cargo storage, a ladder/ramp includes a pair of siderails and crossbars extending between the siderails. A plurality of panels are each rotatably mounted between the siderails adjacent to one of a plurality of the crossbars, with each panel selectively rotatable between a closed position substantially aligned with the siderails and an open position extending outwardly from the siderails. When the panels are in the closed position, the panels and the crossbars collectively form a substantially continuous surface between the siderails on which wheels can be rolled. When the panels are in the open position, the panels each form a step that may support at least about 250 pounds. The panels may snap into place when moved into the open or closed positions, to prevent inadvertent movement therefrom.

A step-ladder has a pair of front legs (201) hinged to a pair of rear legs (202). The front legs consist of two main side members (203) with pivots (218) to support the steps (220). The inner ends of the steps are pivoted to a bar (211) which is also connected by a pivot (242) to the rear legs. When the legs are swung apart to their working position the bar brings all the steps to the horizontal position to provide level steps. At the same time the bar increases the rigidity of the side members. When the legs are brought together the bar swings the steps so that they are aligned with the main side members and so need less storage space.

The ladder has steps (2) extending between ladder stringers (1), rungs or supports (3). One of the steps, the ladder stringers, the rungs or the supports is connected to an alarm device (4) for optically and/or acoustically and/or vibrationally signaling an insecure operating position of the ladder. A sensor (5) e.g. weight sensor, is arranged at an end of the stringers, where the sensor has a light barrier. The alarm device is connected to the sensor, which activates the alarm device while using the ladder.

Lateral folding step unit

A step unit including a vertical frame and a plurality of linkages pivotally attached at different heights to the vertical frame by one end of each of the linkages, to provide lateral rotation to the linkages. A leg frame, with at least one leg, is pivotally attached to the opposite end of each linkage whereby laterally translating the leg frame simultaneously pivots the linkages from a first, vertical position to at least one second, horizontal position.

Ladder hinge and ladders incorporating same

A ladder may include a first pair of spaced apart members, a second pair of spaced apart members and a first pair of hinges coupling the first pair of spaced apart members with the second pair of spaced apart members. In some embodiments, each hinge may include a first hinge component including at least a first hinge plate, the first hinge plate having a notch formed therein, the notch including a first abutment wall and a second abutment wall, a second hinge component including at least a second hinge plate, and a lock mechanism having a pivot pin and a lock pin. The lock mechanism is configured for selective engagement with the notch such that the pivot pin engages the first abutment wall and the lock pin engages the second abutment wall to lock the first hinge component relative to the second hinge component in a first hinge position.

Double ladder

This double ladder has two pairs of uprights which are pivotable towards one another and has at least two steps which are horizontal in work position. The steps are connected via a connecting rod and can be pivoted into a hanging rest position. Also provided is a guide part which is mounted displaceably in a guide path. The guide part is in this case arranged on one pair of uprights. The guide path, in which the guide part engages, is designed on the step connecting the two pairs of uprights, essentially in its plane.

Tree climbing stick

A climbing stick connector system includes first and second climbing sticks releasably secured to one another with first and second posts extending parallel to one another. In one implementation, the first climbing stick has a stopper having a shelf and a projection received within an aperture in one of the posts, wherein a step is pivotally secured to the post above the shelf by a fastener extending through the stopper. The first climbing stick has a V-shaped claw having spaced ears receiving the post therebetween, and the step has opposite upwardly facing concave edges.
