Such unwanted fluctuations in engine speed could result in potentially damaging or unreliable starter motor engagement.

The disclosed method and apparatus may facilitate improved protection against such damage to the components of an engine by priming the engine lubrication pressure for a period of time before starting the engine if, when an engine start is demanded by the operator, a measured engine lubricant pressure is below a threshold value. This may result in better lubrication of the engine before it is turned on, and consequently the engine components may have an improved lifespan. Priming the engine lubrication pressure may be performed by cranking the engine with the fuel injectors turned off. The lubricant pressure threshold may be determined by considering at least one of barometric pressure, engine coolant temperature and air inlet temperature. Engine speed may be limited for a period after starting.

An apparatus and a method are provided for a wiring harness configured for a compressed natural gas (CNG) powered vehicle. The wiring harness comprises an assembly of wires to convey electrical signals. The wires may be bound together by straps, cable ties, cable lacing, sleeves, electrical tape, conduit, a weave of extruded string, or a combination thereof. An exterior sleeve comprises a protective over-molding for the wires. The exterior sleeve seals substantially all connections between the wires and connector terminals of the wiring harness. The exterior sleeve may be flame-retardant and configured to withstand extreme weather conditions. A regulator controls expansion of high pressure CNG to a lower pressure gas that may be utilized in the CNG-powered vehicle. An integrated kill switch prevents engine starting during fueling. The integrated kill switch prohibits engine starting when a fill nozzle cap is improperly installed onto a fill receptacle. 1. A wiring harness for a compressed natural gas , CNG , powered vehicle , the wiring harness comprising:an assembly comprising one or more wires configured to convey electrical signals;an exterior sleeve comprising a protective over-molding for the one or more wires;a regulator configured as a pressure control element; andan integrated kill switch configured to prevent engine starting during fueling.2. A main shaft, a drive gear mechanism, a shift fork, an electromagnetic relay guide rod and a first return spring are arranged in a housing of the electric starter. A gear shifting mechanism comprises a force receiving component which extends out of the housing of the electric starter and serves as an external force applying point so as to promote the electromagnetic relay guide rod to move rightwards, a normally closed switch for cutting off a power supply of the electric starter when the force receiving component moves to an extreme position, a positioning component for locking the force receiving component when the force receiving component moves to the extreme position, and a first return component which enables the force receiving component to automatically returns to an original state when the force receiving component is unlocked. The main shaft is indirectly driven to rotate by the turning mechanism via a transmission mechanism or directly driven to rotate by the turning mechanism via a turning tool. An improvement is made to a structure of a traditional electric starter without affecting existing functions thereof, i.e., a function of manual turning is added.
