A compressor may include a compression mechanism and an oil pump. The compression mechanism is configured to compress a working fluid. The oil pump may be defined by a driveshaft and a bearing. The driveshaft is drivingly connected to the compression mechanism and includes a lubricant passage. The bearing receives a portion of the driveshaft and includes a bearing surface that rotatably supports the driveshaft. The bearing includes a pump cavity surface that is spaced apart from the driveshaft and cooperates with a diametrical surface of the driveshaft to define a pump cavity that extends around the diametrical surface of the driveshaft. The bearing includes an inlet passage and an outlet passage. The inlet passage receives oil from an oil sump and provides oil to the pump cavity. The outlet passage receives oil from the pump cavity and provides oil to the lubricant passage of the driveshaft.

The oil separated by the oil separator (100) is recollected into the casing (10) by an oil pump (1000) driven by a driving force of a driving motor (20). Because an outlet (1177) of a discharge opening through which oil is discharged to the casing from the oil pump is installed at a position lower than a minimum level of oil in the casing (10), the refrigerant is prevented from backflowing into an oil passage, and the occurrence of air bubbles on the surface of oil in the compressor may be prevented.

The refrigerant pump has a casing which encases a combination of a compressor and an electric motor. A spring guide has an attaching base portion fixed to a bearing supporting a crank shaft driven by the motor, and an oil pipe connected to the attaching base such that the inside of the oil pipe opens to one end of the crank shaft. The oil pipe is bent so that the free end thereof is immersed in the lubricating oil in the case. The oil pipe receives a coiled spring which is fixed at its one end to the end of the crank shaft while the other end is immersed in the lubricating oil. As the compressor operates, the coiled spring rotates in the oil pipe so that the lubricating oil is sucked by the lead of the coiled spring through the gap formed between the inner peripheral surface of the oil pipe and the coiled spring.

A compressor is provided that includes an accumulator formed in an internal space of a shell to reduce a size of the compressor. An accumulator space may be formed using the shell of the compressor, thereby simplifying an assembly process. A stationary shaft having a refrigerant suction passage may be directly connected to the accumulator to prevent leakage of refrigerant. A discharge passage may be formed in a rotating body to enhance a cooling effect of a drive motor, and an oil separating member may be installed in the discharge passage to prevent oil from being excessively leaked out. A center of gravity of the accumulator may correspond to a center of gravity of the compressor to reduce vibration noise of the compressor caused by the accumulator. An area for installing a compressor including the accumulator may be minimized to enhance design flexibility of an outdoor device.

A screw compressor utilizing radial and axial or thrust bearings to maintain the position of the rotors radially and axially and utilizing a damping fluid to dampen rotor vibrations. The damping fluid may conveniently be provided in the form of lubricant that is already used in the compressor to seal the clearances between the rotors and between the rotors and the cylinder during compression. The damping fluid is included in a squeeze film damper, arranged in a parallel arrangement with the radial or thrust bearings, which provides viscous damping to the rotor. The introduction of additional viscous damping such as may be provided by squeeze film dampers may result in significant reduction of compressor vibration regardless of the source of vibration.
