The problem of uneven thermal expansion (broken line 36 Fig. 1) is addressed by providing a recess 56 in the thicker portion which communicates with the radially inner higher pressure and temperature compression chambers to communicate higher temperature refrigerant along the face of the thicker portion. The recess back wall 64 has thickness 70 of the same width as the thinner portion and blocks flow of this refrigerant to the radially outer end of the thicker portion which communicates with a lower pressure/temperature chamber. The recess compensates for uneven thermal expansion by bringing the thicker portion to a more even temperature across its width and compensate for axial expansion. The nozzle chamber is defined by a floor portion, an upwardly extending peripheral floor sidewall and a roof portion having a depending peripheral roof sidewall. The floor and roof are arranged to at least partially overlap in a telescopic manner. Each nozzle also comprises an actuator arranged to move the roof portion upwardly and downwardly relative to said floor portion so as to eject ink drops toward a surface to be printed. The distance between the telescopically overlapped sidewalls is such that when the chamber is in use and ink is located within the chamber, surface tension provides for sealing of the space between the sidewalls so as to at least reduce leakage of ink through the space.

In den Faltungen konnen Kammern mit großer Langenanderung bei Temperaturanderung angeordnet sein, bzw. das Endlosband besteht aus diesen Kammern.
