The composite joist floor system includes joists supported by supporting members. Corrugated steel decking is positioned over the joists such that the corrugations are substantially perpendicular to the joists. Self-drilling, self-tapping, stand-off screws are spaced along the length of the joist, aligned with the deck corrugations. These stand-off screws provide the required shear transfer between the joist and concrete slab to form a composite floor system. The placed concrete encapsulates the upper non-threaded shank portions of the stand-off screws and the end of the joists. After the concrete has cured, the resultant system comprised of steel joists, steel decking, stand-off screws, and concrete, act together to form a composite system with greater load carrying capacity and less vertical deflection. The stand-off screws connect the joist upper chords to the concrete slab allowing the joist and concrete slab to act as a unit, by transferring shear between the two joined components.

A deformable fastening system that has a deformable member and a mating member that seal together at a reduced clamp load from a conventional fastening system. The deformable member reduces the axial force that is required to install a fastener. The system can be used in connection with the installation of various fasteners with one or more steps under the head of the bolt, or a deformable washer with at least one step or at least one taper. The stepped configuration provides a reduced contact area where the stepped portion contacts the mating member which translates into reduced clamp force range for a given torque. Thus, less axial force is needed to properly install the fastener. Alternatively, a non-deformable bolt with a clinch feature and a stepped underhead forms a seal with deformed staking material when the bolt is staked in the staking material.

The present invention provides compliant screws compatible with standard threaded holes that are self-anchoring via auxetic properties. Once a screw has been twisted in place using a mating screw driver, the screw won't be able to be removed unless it is broken, its surrounding material is torn out with the screw, or unless the screw driver itself is again used to twist the screw in the opposite direction. Thus, although reusable, the screw will never come out of its hole in the presence of vibrations or other cyclic or random loading scenarios. The screws are thereby suitable for critical joint applications where screws must never come loose. Non-limiting examples include satellite fasteners, high-speed vehicle bolts, pedicle screws, and other screws used to secure medical implants within a human body.

The fastening device includes a nut ( 1 ) and a screw ( 2 ) coupled by being screwed together, the screw ( 2 ) being movable with respect to the nut ( 1 ), wherein the screw ( 2 ) comprises a head ( 3 ) provided with a washer ( 4 ) able to tilt in any adjustment direction, the axis of the washer ( 4 ) able to move within an angle by tilting with respect to the axis of the screw ( 2 ). A fastening method includes the steps of vertically introducing the fastening device in a polygonal hole until a seal ( 6 ) butts against the roof of the vehicle, and rotating the device in a counterclockwise direction until it butts against the same. The fastening device allows a function of adjustment to be carried out and compensates for the lack of parallelism and tolerance between the fastened accessory and the body of the vehicle.

An indexing assembly for a snowmobile drive clutch assembly includes an adapter collar having a first portion which is hexagonal in cross section for mounting in the index socket of the drive clutch housing which normally receives a conventional indexing bolt therein. The adapter collar defines a first indexing surface which mates with a corresponding second indexing surface of the indexing head of an auxiliary bolt which replaces the conventional indexing bolt to define an eccentric cam surface which defines the ramp angle of a flyweight ramp member of the drive clutch that can be adjusted through a greater number of mating positions than the conventional indexing bolt. A difference in ramp angle between sequential mating positions of the auxiliary bolt can thus be made smaller than the difference in ramp angle between sequential mating positions of the conventional indexing bolt.

A lock and pin for the structural and fluid tight repair of cracks not amenable to high temperature repairs or synthetic material patches. Fluid tight pins and locks seal the crack while one or more locks prevent the crack from growing. These repairs need to endure the remaining life cycle of the machinery part while withstanding all the strain, pressure, heat and expansion and contraction of the part before the crack(s) were formed. Often these cracks evolved due to engineering design flaws that will require even greater strength from these areas than when new.
