A hinged clamp provides quick connection and disconnection of sections of fluid tubing. Some embodiments include a spring-loaded catch mechanism that enables the clamp to be loosely latched, and a winding mechanism that can retract the catch to a securely latched condition. Other embodiments provide a hinged shaft that pivots about an end of the upper clamp ring. A middle section of the shaft can be inserted into a slotted opening in the lower clamp ring, and the winding mechanism can move an engagement surface against the lower clamp ring to securely latch the clamp. An adjustment mechanism is included in these embodiments which can adjust the amount of winding required to engage the clamp. In various embodiments, less than one turn or less than one-half turn is required to engage/disengage the clamp. The clamp can be openable only just enough for insertion of flanged ends of the tubing sections.

Provided is a preferred joint assembly unable to hold fluid pressure in either one of a dry fit connection and partial seal connection. The joint assembly includes a coupler to identify a leak. More specifically, the coupler includes a substantially tubular wall portion having an outer surface, an inner surface and a channel disposed along one of the inner and outer surfaces. The channel has a first configuration for carrying a fluid between an interior of the piping system and an exterior of a piping system, and a second configuration to prevent fluid from being carried between the interior and the exterior of the piping system. The channel is further preferably convertible from the first configuration to the second configuration in the presence of a minimum amount of sealant material.

A coupling for securing pipe elements together in end-to-end relation has segments joined at one end by a pivot attachment and at an opposite end by an adjustable connection member. The segments surround a central space which receives the pipe elements. A gripping body is captured between the segments. The segments have angularly oriented reaction surfaces. The gripping body has angularly oriented contact surfaces which interface with the reaction surfaces. When the segments are drawn toward each other by the connection members, interaction between the reaction surfaces and the contact surfaces forces the gripping body radially inwardly. Inwardly facing arcuate surfaces on the segments and the gripping body engage and retain the pipe elements. A method of inserting pipe elements into the coupling while the segments and the gripping body are supported on a seal is also disclosed.

The pipe clamping device comprises an annular case with central opening into which the first pipe and the second pipe are inserted; a tightening member movable between a tightening location where the tightening member tightens outer circumferential surface of the first pipe and the second pipe and a disengagement location where the tightening member does not impose pressure on the outer circumferential surface of the first pipe and the second pipe; and a stopper restricting radial movement of the tightening member such that diameter of the tightening member at the disengagement location does not extend beyond a predetermined number, the stopper being prepared in the annular case. The present disclosure provides easy clamping of pipes since the tightening member at a disengagement location has a predetermined diameter by the stopper of the case.

The present disclosure relates to a mechanical coupling, and in particular, a clamshell coupling configured to open and close mechanically.The present invention relates to couplings for attaching various mechanical devices, such as hoses, manifolds, and similar connections. More particularly, the present invention pertains to a coupling that includes at least one fastener configured to open the coupling.Previously, conventional compression couplings were configured only to connect two or more separate devices (e.g., hose, manifold, etc.) together. The compression coupling came in at least two parts which fit around the connection areas (e.g., shaft, neck, etc.) of the two devices being coupled.
