The rendering of media generated by media production systems on a display of a different computer system that operates an operating system. A display of a computer system that operates an operating system is sometimes referred to as a smart display. When the computer system receives the media from the media production system(s), the computer system formulates an operating system control that, when triggered, performs one or more operating system operations. The computer system then displays a visualization of the operating system control along with at least part of the received media on the display of the computer system. The operating system control is structured so as to be triggered when a user interacts in at least a particular way with the visualization of the operating system control. Thus, rather than simply render the media as provided, additional operating system level control is provided by the smart display. 1. Embodiments are described for handling the launching of applications in a multi-screen device. In embodiments, a first touch sensitive display of a first screen receives input to launch an application. In response, the application is launched. A determination is made as to whether the first touch sensitive display already has windows in its stack. If there are no windows in the stack of the first touch sensitive display, a new window of the first application is displayed on the first touch sensitive display. If there are windows in the stack, a determination is made whether a second display has windows in its stack. If not, the new window is displayed on the second display. If the second display also has windows in its stack, the new window will be displayed on the first touch sensitive display. 1. A method , comprising:receiving first input indicating a request to launch a first application, wherein the input is received by a first touch sensitive display of a first screen;launching the first application;determining whether the first touch sensitive display has an empty stack; andin response to determining that the first touch sensitive display has an empty stack, the first application displaying a first image on the first touch sensitive display.2. Displaying an image on an irregular screen

Presented here are systems and methods to enable software applications to display images on irregular screen shapes containing the shape without display functionality. In one embodiment, the shape without display functionality is confined within a bounding shape, which, when subtracted from the irregular screen shape leaves a rectangular area of the screen where the image can be displayed. The area within the bounding shape can be occupied by images provided by the operating system associated with the irregular screen, such as a status bar and/or navigation bar. In another embodiment, the image can be displayed on the full irregular screen, such that the shape without display functionality covers a part of the image. When the occluded part of the image contains a critical object, such as a menu item, a button, etc., the image can be modified to move the critical object out of the area occluded by the shape without display functionality.
