In a modified form, only one chamber is employed, and only one capillary tube b. This is of sufficient capacity to prevent escape of electrolyte into the chamber. The gas discharge mechanism includes a vent port that is coupled to the vent aperture and sized for receiving discharged gas. The vent port is adapted for mating with and forming a seal about the outlet by securing the base to the floorpan during assembly.

A lithium ion battery , comprising: a housing in which a positive electrode , a negative electrode , and an electrolyte are provided , wherein a part of the housing is made from fusible material; andwhen a temperature in the housing exceeds a set threshold, the part made from the fusible material of the housing is penetrated, where electrolyte flows out to separate from the positive electrode and the negative electrode.2.
