The module has a body for retaining the electrical components, and terminal bulkheads capable of coupling with the body. The terminal bulkheads have cavities that define fluid reservoirs when the terminal bulkheads are coupled with the body, and gaskets that seal the fluid reservoirs. Electrical contacts of the terminal bulkheads contact the electrical components within the sealed fluid reservoir. The fluid reservoirs are filled with a fluid such that forces applied to the electrical components are dampened, and oxidation of electrical connections is mitigated through displacement of oxygen. The fluid can also be selected to neutralize chemicals that may leak from the electrical components. The electrical contacts can be interconnected with conductor buses such that the electrical components are connected in series, parallel, or a mixture of both.

The top cover assembly comprises: a top cover plate, which is provided with an electrode lead-out hole; an electrode terminal, which is disposed on a top cover plate and covers the electrode lead-out hole; a current collector, which comprises a protruding portion with an accommodating cavity and is at least partially disposed within the electrode lead-out hole and welded with the electrode terminal to form a welding portion facing the accommodating cavity, the current collector is provided with a connecting hole, the connecting hole is provided with a first opening disposed on a surface, away from the electrode terminal, of the current collector; an insulating protection member, which is disposed on one side, away from the electrode terminal, of the current collector, comprises a shielding portion and a connecting portion connected with the shielding portion, wherein the shielding portion shields a welding portion, and at least a portion of the connecting portion extends into the connecting hole through the first opening and is connected and fixed with the current collector. The top cover assembly of the present application can provide protection from dropping of the metal debris on the welding portion produced by welding connection between the current collector and the electrode terminal through the insulating protection member, thereby improving the safety of the secondary battery.

A demountable insulating shield having apertures may be positioned so that the series string may be broken into a plurality of series sub-strings having a lesser potential difference has a cover over the aperture through which the series string configuration may be connected and disconnected. The cover may be an insulating material removably fastened to the insulating shield or a sliding cover that is captivated to the insulating shield.
