According to rotation of the rotor, alternating current is generated in the stator coils, and the alternating current is rectified into direct current to charge an on-board battery. Inlet ports for introducing cooling air into the housing are formed between spokes formed on an axial end wall of the housing. The spokes are slanted in the direction opposite to the rotational direction of the rotor relative to the radial direction to thereby reduce airflow noise generated around the spokes.

The present disclosure is generally directed to techniques for radial alignment of motor components relative to each other to achieve a motor with a rotor bore having sub-micron end-to-end deviation. In an embodiment, a rotor bore alignment tool is disclosed herein that can be inserted between motor components, and more particularly, apertures/through holes defined by each of the motor components such as housing sections and a stator assembly. The rotor bore alignment tool includes expandable members that can be selectively transitioned to an extended position to cause each of the motor components to be radially aligned prior to securely coupling the same in a so-called “stack” to form a motor. Once the motor components are coupled together, the resulting motor includes a rotor shaft extending from end-to-end that preferably includes a sub-micron deviation of less than 10 microns, and more preferably less than or equal to 5 microns, for example. 1. An engine component cooling system and apparatus, at least one fan and a cover are installed upon the engine component. The fan pulls cool air and force cool air through the component assembly to reduce the heat generated through operation, thereby optimizing operation and extending the useful life of the individual components and the assembly. In one example, a fan and a cover are installed on an alternator assembly so that the fan draws in and forces cool air through the rectifier, rotor, stator, and out through the front of the assembly. The cover prevents cool air from being lost and misdirected, while directing the cool air through the assembly.
