Systems and methods for reducing a target molecule in a fluid are described. A fluid, such as a gas, may be contacted with a fluid capable of binding with the target molecules and removing the target molecules from the fluid. For example, emissions from a production process may be contacted with water to remove volatile organic compound (VOCs), thereby reducing the VOCs in the emissions. The fluid with bound target molecules may form a target fluid that may be discharged from the system or may be reused until the concentration of the target molecules in the target fluid reaches a threshold concentration. An illustrative production process is the fermentation of wine, which produces an off-gas that includes VOCs, such as ethanol. The systems and methods for reducing a target molecule may significantly reduce or even eliminate the amount of ethanol in the fermentation off-gas.

A method and apparatus for reducing, abating, and destroying volatile organic compounds (V.O.C.s) contained in an air stream is disclosed. The air stream is mixed with a fog or mist of activated air in aqueous solution while the mixture is exposed to ultraviolet radiation in chambers along a tunnel. The activated air contains oxidants that are formed by exposing air to ultraviolet light. The activated air is generated under conditions that prevent prolonged existence of ozone and enhance the generation of highly active oxidants such as hydroxyl radicals. The aqueous solution is formed by dispersing the activated air into water in sparger tanks that include ultraviolet lamps to maintain a high oxidant level in the aqueous solution. A method for the abatement of contaminant-laden process emissions produced by various wood manufacturing processes comprises the step of flowing the emissions through an oxidation catalyst (114, 116, or 118) located in a regenerative catalytic oxidizer (100) to remove volatile organic compounds (VOC's), methanol, formaldehyde, resins, binders, and hazardous air pollutants (HAP's) at lower peak temperatures than the temperatures encountered in regenerative thermal oxidizers. The oxidation catalyst allows the overall abatement process to operate at lower peak combustion temperatures. By reducing the peak combustion temperatures during the abatement of emissions, the present invention precludes potassium and/or sodium in the emissions from reacting with silica in the heat recovery media and ceramic fiber insulation of the regenerative thermal oxidizer. This reaction has heretofore destroyed the desired properties of the wood product and compromised the quality of te product.

The capacity of aqueous droplets to hold organic compounds and the rate of transfer of organic compounds from an air stream to the droplets increase rapidly as the droplet size decreases and the droplet internal pressure rises. After substantial transfer of volatile organic compounds from the air into the droplets is accomplished, the droplets are caused to grow and to coalesce and are separated from the air stream. The resulting liquid effluent is disposed of in a manner which prevents escape of contained contaminant compounds.

Рама состоит из 10-ти штанг длиной по 1425 мм и из 2-х штанг длиной по 1550 мм, которые в местах пересечения образуют узлы к которым прикреплены верхние закрытые части рукавов. Нижние части рукавов закреплены к горизонтальной перегородке, которая полностью перекрывает сечение корпуса и предотвращает попаданию запыленного воздуха в очищенный воздух на выходе из фильтра. Рама подвешена на четырех пружинах, которые крепятся к корпусу фильтра. Механизм регенерации рукавов размещен в верхней части корпуса над рамой и содержит вал, на котором прикреплены два кулачка, выполненные по форме спирально завитой улитки Паскаля, два ролика и мотор-редуктор. Вал встряхивающего механизма размещен между штангами длиной 1550 мм, кулачки размещены на валу встряхивающего механизма симметрично, первый кулачок расположен над 3-ей штангой, а второй кулачок расположен над 6-ойштангой, считая от мотор-редуктора. Четыре пружины рамы размещены симметрично вначале и в конце на штангах длиной по 1550 мм. Разработанный фильтр имеет вид прямоугольного многогранника кубоида, внутри которого установлены вертикально круглые рукава длиной 1500 мм и диаметром 125 мм. The fibers need not be charged. The TiO2 may be condensed or precipitated onto the fibers out of a liquid containing the TiO2 and the fibers by simple methods. The catalyst may be activated by UV irradiation to decompose particulate matter having an average particle size of 2.5 μm or less, i.e., PM2.5, and/or other airborne pollutants from air. Such filters may be implemented around areas of vehicle traffic, e.g., as elements of traffic lights, and may be used to controllably purify polluted air.
