The charging system using a wound synchronous motor comprises: an inverter for converting power of a battery; a wound synchronous motor having a plurality of stator coils for receiving the power converted by the inverter, and a rotor having a plurality of field coils installed therein; a switching circuit unit for selectively supplying power to the field coils; and a control unit for supplying power to at least one of the field coils from the battery by controlling the switching circuit unit in a motor mode in which the wound synchronous motor receives power from the battery and operates as a motor, and for providing system power to at least some of the field coils by insulating the battery and the fields and controlling the switching circuit unit in a charging mode in which the system power is applied to the field coil side to charge the battery. Accordingly, it is possible to achieve the optimum efficiency for each mode.
