A variety of methods for integrating an organic photovoltaic-based SolarWindow™ module and electrochromic materials to create dynamic, variable transmittance, energy-saving windows and/or window films are described. Stand-alone or building integrated, independent or user-controllable, battery supported or building integrated, and insulated glass unit or aftermarket film implementations are all described, providing for a diversity of applications. Low-cost fabrication options also allow for economical production. 16-. (canceled)7. A flexible plastic film comprising: an electrochromic component;', 'an organic photovoltaic component coated monolithically on top of the electrochromic component; and', 'a common transparent conducting electrode connecting organic photovoltaic cell(s) (anode) and an electrochromic device (cathode), the photovoltaic cathode being electrically connected with the electrochromic anode., 'a flexible and transparent substrate;'}8. The flexible plastic film of claim 7 , further comprising a battery and switching elements.9. The flexible plastic film of claim 8 , wherein the electrochromic device can be driven to a dark state by the battery in an absence of a photovoltage.10. The flexible plastic film of claim 8 , wherein the organic photovoltaic cell(s) charges the battery. The present invention is a Divisional application under 35 U.S.C. §121 of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 14/079,909, filed Nov. 14, 2013, now allowed, which claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 61/726,490, filed Nov. 14, 2012, and entitled “INTEGRATED PHOTOVOLTAIC AND ELECTROCHROMIC WINDOWS”, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. The present invention is directed to the integration of a photovoltaic window, in the form of SolarWindow™, and an electrochromic window, in the generic form, to produce an energy-saving integrated dynamic window unit, and more particularly, to specific methods for implementing ...
