It also provides simpler interconnection and wiring of the elements (e.g., PV panels) of the array. A dc-dc converter comprised of a DC transformer is coupled to each PV panel in a photovoltaic array to generate an increased dc voltage from a lower dc voltage produced by the PV panel. The outputs of the dc-dc converters are connected in parallel to a dc bus, which distributes the resulting voltage. As a result, the energy generated by the PV array is increased, the costs of system design and installation are reduced, and it becomes feasible to install PV arrays in new locations such as on gabled or non-planar roofs.

Electrical power is generated from solar and wind sources thus reducing the need for fuel oil at military forward operating bases and main operating bases. A wind turbine and a solar cell panel are connected to a battery bank. Both the turbine and the solar cells are stored in two standard military shipping containers. When transported to the desired location, these sub-systems are easily set up for operation. The entire apparatus may be disassembled for re-transport and use at another location. Necessary container modifications to connect the system for use are made in such a way as not to alter the container's outside envelope, thus enabling normal transport of the container without damage to the modifications. Each of the solar cells have discs attached so that the solar panel can be assembled in the field by sliding each disc into a mounting channel. This disc and channel structure also allows each cell to be stored in the shipping container by using similar channels mounted back to back in a storage frame located in one of the containers. The solar panel is pivotally mounted in proximity to an edge of the shipping container using mounting elements which interfit with the already provided lift fittings on the container. A wiring harness plugs each solar cell to a conduit for connection to the battery charging system

The solar cell module is mounted on the top of the water tank, and thus does not occupy space, which prevents the problem of occupying land and reduces general costs related thereto. As described above, the solar cell module, which might otherwise occupy a large amount of space, and a water tank are coupled together, to thereby reduce the costs associated with purchasing land.

A solar panel module is connected to the top portion of two bases and to the bottom portion so that the solar panel module is mounted at a selected angle. Each of the bases has attachment points which hold insert nuts and allows mounting brackets to be secured along the mounting surfaces. The mounting brackets allow the solar panel modules to be clamped utilizing their frames without additional hardware and to be attached from the top without access to the bottom of the panels. The brackets can be industry standard or specific to the system. The bases stack and nest for easy transport. The wind turbines includes a plurality of helical air foil blades mounted for rotation about an axis, and a cylindrical airfoil mounted along the axis and shaped to direct a flow of fluid, such as, air or water, toward the plurality of helical airfoil blades. Incorporating photovoltaic devices within the turbines can enhance the energy capturing capacity of some turbines. The energy capturing assemblies include a plurality of airfoil blades mounted for rotation about an axis, a structure having an outer surface shaped to direct a flow of fluid toward the plurality of airfoil blades; and an electrical generator operatively connected to the plurality of airfoil blades. The structure may be a building, a residence, a tower, a tank, or a vessel. Methods and devices for capturing fluid energy are also included.

A novel method is described for room heating using stored solar heat. Solar heat is stored in an insulated tank by using scrap and inexpensive heat absorbing or heat storing materials. Stored heat can then be extracted by air circulation for room heating. The temperature of the room air is controlled by a thermostat. When the room temperature drops below the set point on the thermostat, a circulating air pump turns on and extract the solar heat until the room temperature air reaches the desired set temperature. Once room temperature reaches the set point in the thermostat, the air circulation pump turns off.

Estimator calculates estimated value of energy demand in building with electric appliance. Scheduler creates schedule of appliance based on estimated value. Acquisition unit acquires actual value of energy demand. Monitoring unit monitors error between estimated value and actual value. Receiver receives DR signal containing information which prompts suppression of energy consumption in a designated period. Setting unit sets threshold. Estimator recalculates estimated value if error is equal or more than threshold. Scheduler reforms schedule based on the recalculated estimated value.
