The present invention relates to a polyester fiber for use in airbag fabric, and more particularly, to a polyester fiber, to a method for manufacturing same, and to airbag fabric manufactured from the polyester fiber, wherein the polyester fiber is characterized in that the content of one or more organic fillers selected from a group consisting of TiO2, SiO2 and BaSO4 is 200 ppm or lower, elongation at break is 15% or higher, dry heat shrinkage is 3% or higher, and the sum of the elongation at break and dry heat shrinkage is 20% or higher. The polyester fiber of the present invention has significantly low stiffness and superior mechanical properties to ensure the physical properties of high strength, high elongation, and high shrinkage.
