The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same, wherein the mobile terminal comprises: a memory in which a fingerprint of a user authenticated for at least one content is set and stored; a fingerprint recognizing unit for recognizing the fingerprint of a finger touched thereto; and a control unit for performing control such that content set to the user′s fingerprint is hidden when the user′s fingerprint is not recognized, the content is displayed when the user′s fingerprint is recognized, and the display of the content is maintained while the fingerprint recognizing unit is touched by the finger corresponding to the user′s fingerprint. According to the present invention, contents regarding personal life of a user are displayed only while the user fingerprint is recognized, and thus, there is an effect in that the contents regarding personal life of the user can be prevented from being exposed to other people.
