... 본 발명은 액정 배향층, 이를 이용한 수직배향 액정표시소자 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것으로, 더욱 상세하게는 기존의 폴리이미드 고분자를 사용하는 배향막 공정없이 액정층의 액정분자들을 균일하게 배열할 수 있는 액정 배향층, 이를 이용한 수직배향 액정표시소자 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면 기판과 결합할 수 있는 수소결합 단위 및 액정분자들과 π-π 상호 작용을 할 수 있는 강직한 방향족 고리 구조를 포함하는 방향족 저분자 화합물을 적용함으로써 기존의 폴리이미드 배향막 없이 액정분자들을 수직배향할 수 있고 우수한 전기광학특성을 구현할 수 있다. 또한 본 발명에 따르면, 기존의 폴리이미드 배향막을 이용한 방식 대비 라이징 타임(rising time)이 10배 빨라지는 초고속 응답속도 구현이 가능하다(기존 16 ms, 본 발명 1.5 ms).
