Provided are a carbon nanostructure, comprising a plurality of organic molecules which are decomposition products of an organic solvent, and a preparing method thereof. The carbon nanostructure can have various properties depending on the characteristics of the solvent to be decomposed, and show various characteristics depending on a type of a doped heteroelement, so as to be applied to various fields. Furthermore, as the carbon nanostructure is synthesized using the organic solvent alone, the generation of side reactions can be suppressed, and thus the carbon nanostructure can be formed to have a high quality, without a purification process. In addition, a remaining solvent after forming the carbon nanostructure can be extracted and recycled, and thus an eco-friendly process which does not generate waste is possible.
