During a traceback process, the system may retrieve the retained boundary cells for a current sector and recompute the cell contents for the current sector. The system may continue to process sectors one at a time until the traceback path for the score matrix, and accordingly the optimal global alignment for the input sequence pair, is determined.

A method , comprising:identifying one or more recurrent features in an input stream in a first region of a hierarchical artificial neural network;recognizing a temporal pattern in the one or more recurrent features in the first region;providing to at least a second region of the hierarchical neural network an indication of the temporal pattern; andmodulating a response to a further input to the first region based on feedback from the second region and at least one additional region.2. The method includes directing a light-emitting beam locally onto a surface portion of a semiconductor body; and manipulating a plurality of dislocations located proximate to the surface portion of the semiconductor body utilizing the light-emitting beam, the light-emitting beam being characterized as having a scan speed, so as to produce the patterned strained regions. 1. A method for manipulating dislocations from a semiconductor device , comprising:directing a light-emitting beam locally onto a surface portion of a semiconductor body that includes active regions of the semiconductor device; andmanipulating a plurality of dislocations located proximate to the surface portion of the semiconductor body utilizing the light-emitting beam,wherein manipulating the plurality of dislocations comprises directly scanning the plurality of dislocations with the light-emitting beam to manipulate a location of each of the plurality of dislocations on the surface portion of the semiconductor body by adjusting a temperature of the surface portion of the semiconductor body corresponding to the plurality of dislocations and adjusting a scan speed of the laser beam.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein manipulating the plurality of dislocations further comprises heating the plurality of dislocations with the laser beam such that the plurality of dislocations are driven away from the surface portion of the semiconductor body into the substrate. The implantable housing may be sealed, encapsulating the unit. The intramedullary bone lengthening nail is inserted into the intramedullary cavity of a bone, which may have been enlarged by reaming. The implantable housing of the intramedullary nail is formed from two telescoping cylinders and is affixed at either end to the bone using pins. The adjustment mechanism is attached to both cylinders of the housing and includes a mechanism for expanding the nail and a ratcheting mechanism for regulating the expansion. The drive assembly includes a shape memory alloy to provide an expansion force. The drive mechanism transmits the expansion force in response to an external signal to the adjustment mechanism.

Process of preparing silica-supported catalysts. The dispersion and support are mixed at a temperature of about 10° C. or less to enable the metallocene to become reactively supported on and impregnated within the alumoxane-impregnated silica particles. The supported catalyst is recovered from the aromatic solvent and washed with an aromatic hydrocarbon and then a paraffinic hydrocarbon at a temperature of about 10° C. or less. A method employing the same is disclosed.

Apparatus and process for transporting lithographic plates to a press cylinder

Transportation of a lithographic plate uses an indexer to load plates into pods for delivery to a press cylinder via a pod elevator or a pod cart. The plates are imprinted with a bar code, imaged, punched, bent, sheared, corner notched, and registered to a press cylinder. The plates are loaded into the indexer, which moves the loaded plates into a position in alignment with designated pod compartments, and loads the plates into each of the designated pod compartments by indexed movement of an elevator within the indexer. The pod elevator or the pod cart moves the pods proximate to a press cylinder where the plates are unloaded from the pod and loaded onto a press cylinder. A computing device, such as a PLC, directs the process. A vision system senses information from the indexer, pod, pod elevator, and the plate for feedback to a PLC, which initiates all of the foregoing operations.

A fluid distribution system incorporating a conduit combined with a plurality of distribution heads is shown. The conduit is continuous and does not contain prearranged stations or distribution points to accept the heads; the heads are formed with threaded shanks terminating at one end in an unthreaded portion having a cap formed thereon. A fluid channel extends along a portion of the threaded shank and the opposite end of the shank is tapered to a point. The conduit is connected to a source of fluid under pressure and placed along a path passing through fluid utilization areas. The heads are then utilized to puncture the conduit and are subsequently threaded in to the conduit, exposing the fluid channel therein to the interior of the conduit to provide a passageway for the escape of fluid from the conduit outwardly to the fluid utilization area.
