Empirical exposure normalization

Номер: US20200043151A1
Автор: Richard Case
Принадлежит: Adobe Inc

An automated process empirically normalizes a “dark” image by adjusting the apparent exposure to compensate for nonlinearity in the luminance response of the image sensor. The process includes receiving at least two digital images, one of the digital images having an exposure value that is greater than that of another of the digital images. A reduced-resolution pair of images is produced from the at least two digital images. At least one representative scale factor is calculated from tonal values in the two images and at least one empirical scale factor is determined by selective interpolation between the representative scale factor and a comparative scale factor. The empirical scale factor is used in a function applied pixelwise to the darker of the digital images to produce an empirically normalized digital image.

A method and system connects multiple cores within one fiber, e.g., a multi-core fiber (MCF), to multiple fibers with single-cores. The single-core fibers can then be terminated by traditional envelopes, such as a single core LC envelope. A connector holds the single-core fibers into a pattern that matches a pattern of all, or a sub group, of the individual cores of the MCF. The single-core fibers may all be terminated to individual connectors to form a fanout or breakout cable. Alternatively, the single-core fibers may extend to another connector wherein the single-core fibers are regrouped into a pattern to mate with the cores of another MCF, hence forming a jumper. One or more of the single core fibers may be terminated along the length of the jumper to form a jumper with one or more tap accesses.

In an electronic data processing system, data characters to be edited are transferred selectively and successively under partial control of a bi-stable device from a first (" source ") storage field to a second (" pattern ") storage field initially containing control and data characters (e.g. decimal point), whereby at the conclusion of an editing operation the second field contains selected characters from the first field selectively interspersed with data characters of the second field. Bytes each have 8 bits and comprise two binary-coded decimal digits or one such and a sign (" packed " format), or one such digit plus 4 zone bits (" unpacked " format). Provision is made for interchanging the two halves of a byte in a register to simplify test on a half, testing being done generally by subtracting a constant from the number and seeing if the result is zero. BIMETAL LID LOCK ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A safety interlock for a door of an automatic washing machine is disclosed. The interlock securely latches the door during a spin cycle to prevent the operator of the machine from opening the door and catch-ing his hand in the rotating motor driven drum. The inter-lock operates during operation of the motor and during a time delay period following de-energization of the motor to permit the drum to coast to a safe speed or to a stop. In-eluded in the interlock is a switch member operable upon closure of the door to at least partially complete a circuit between the motor and a bimetallic element. The remainder of the circuit is completed by a timer driven switch, and when the circuit is completed the bimetallic element is heated to move a latch on the frame of the appliance into locking engage-ment with a latch on the door.

ELECTRONIC LIQUID LEVEL MONITOR AND CONTROLLER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The cycles of an oscillator varying in frequency in pro-portion to the changing level of a monitored liquid are counted over a fixed period of time. A derived submultiple of the count is compared relative to an electronically stored table of numbers indicative of known liquid levels. Predetermined relationships between the count and the table initiate control functions for maintaining or varying the level of monitored liquid during a pro-grammed series of operations such as, for example, the programmed cycles of a microcomputer controlled clothes washing machine.

Self-removing washer shipping plug

Номер: CA2092151A1
Принадлежит: White Consolidated Industries Inc

SELF-REMOVING WASHER SHIPPING PLUG ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A shipping pallet for use in packaging a top loading clothes washer includes a rectangular base of plastic foam material with an aperture in its center, the bottom of the clothes washer cabinet being fully supported on the base. A plastic post with a radially extending skirt at its mid portion is locked at its lower end into the aperture in the base. The upper end of the post extends though a center aperture in the base plate of the clothes washer and then press fits into a vertically aligned center aperture in the snubber dome thereof. The post and its skirt interlock respectively with the snubber dome and the base plate to stop the snubber dome from laterally shifting relative to the base plate during shipping so as to preclude damage to the clothes washer. When the clothes washer is removed from its packaging by the end user, the rectangular base is pulled away from the bottom of the clothes washer cabinet along with the post wherein the snubber dome is released so as to be able to move relative to the clothes washer base plate as is desired during normal operation of the washing machine. Such a shipping pallet eliminates the need for a separate snubber dome shipping bolt that must be manually removed subsequent to unpackaging of the clothes washer as is the current practice.
