The present invention relates to a process for introducing a solid catalyst into a gas-phase olefin polymerization reactor (10). It comprises in particular storing the catalyst in the form of a dry powder in a hopper (1), withdrawing from the hopper (1) a measured amount of the said catalyst, introducing the said amount of the catalyst and a liquid hydrocarbon into a mixing chamber (7), mixing the said catalyst with the said liquid hydrocarbon so as to form in the said chamber (7) a suspension of the entrained catalyst with the said liquid hydrocarbon, and introducing the said suspension into the said reactor (10). In a preferred form, the liquid hydrocarbon is continuously introduced into the chamber (7) and forms a continuous stream to which is added the measured amount of the catalyst and which flows into the reactor (10).

The separation tank is close to the first volume, whose enclosure or wall has alsoat least one rotation surface generated by the rotation around the same vertical axis, known as rotation axis, of a curve and/or rectilinear segment, which is carried out by continuously or intermitently introducing a catalyst into the reactor, continuously introducing olefin/olefins into a reaction gaseous mixture. The reaction gaseous mixture cooling takes place with the elimination of the formed polymer and the fluidized bed occupies at least the entire volume of the reactor. By the process claimed by the invention, one or more olefin monomers are polymerized, said monomers being chosen among ethylene, propylene, 1-butene, 1-pentene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, 1-hexene and 1-octene, with a productivity higher than 50 kg/m3, preferably higher than 60 kg/h/m3.

THE TUYERE (5) COMPRISES A WIDENING PIPE THE WIDER END (6) OF WHICH IS POSITIONED TOWARDS THE FLUIDIZATION GRID (2) AND HAS AN AREA WHICH IS SUBSTANTIALLY THE SAME AS THE CROSS- SECTIONAL AREA OF THE FLUIDIZED BED APPARATUS (1) AND IS 2 TO 30 TIMES THAT OF THE AREA OF THE NARROWER END (7) OF THE WIDENING PIPE. THE PROCESS FOR FEEDING FLUIDIZATION GAS TO A FLUIDIZED BED USING SUCH APPARATUS ENABLES A GOOD GAS DISTRIBUTION ACROSS THE BED TO BE ACHIEVED WITH A MODEST ADDITIONAL PRESSURE DROP. THE INVENTION IS PARTICULARLY USEFUL FOR APPARATUS E.G GREATER THAN 3 M IN DIAMETER. (FIG 1)
