A method for use in an access point (AP) , the method comprising:receiving, from a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), a first CF-End frame that includes a duration field and a basic service set identifier (BSSID) field that includes an individual/group bit;on a condition that the individual/group bit of the BSSID field has a value of one (1), determining that a scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame indicates a bandwidth associated with a transmit opportunity (TXOP) being truncated by the WTRU; andtransmitting a second CF-End frame at the bandwidth indicated by the scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame.2. Upon correctly receiving the frame, the responder sends a response frame to the initiator instead of directly sending an acknowledgement (ACK) packet. The responder preferably accesses the wireless medium to send the response frame in a short inter-frame spacing (SIFS). With this scheme, a long delay associated with having to contend for the wireless medium to send the response frame is avoided and therefore, the responsiveness and timeliness of the feedback mechanism is significantly enhanced. The response frame may be piggybacked on or aggregated with another packet. 1. A method and apparatus for uplink transmission over a non-contentious shared feedback channel are disclosed, wherein the parameters of the uplink transmission are determined by the parameters of a downlink transmission. A new uplink channel, called a physical shared uplink feedback channel (PSUFCH) is used for uplink transmission such as feedback information in response to a downlink transmission on a fast shared data channel. Enhanced protocols and devices may be used to alleviate loss of spectrum efficiency in wideband transmission. The protocols may implement a wideband transmission opportunity (TXOP) truncation where one or more of the channels involved in communication over the wideband are released. In one scenario, an access point (AP) may receive, from a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), a first CF-End frame that includes a duration field and a basic service set identifier (BSSID) field that includes an individual/group bit. On a condition that the individual/group bit of the BSSID field has a value of one (1), the AP may determine that a scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame indicates a bandwidth associated with a transmit opportunity (TXOP) being truncated by the WTRU. A method and apparatus may be used to establish a communication link between devices such as VHT access points (APs) or VHT wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs). For example, an AP or a WTRU may transmit management action request frames such as Association, Direct Link Setup (DLS) or Tunneled Direct Link Setup (TDLS) request frames. The management action frame may include VHT Capability information of the AP or the WTRU. In response to the management action request frame, the receiving AP or WTRU may transmit management action response frames to establish a communication link. Existing 802.11 management action frames may be used to include the VHT Capability information. The VHT Capability information may be used to implement various VHT features such as channel configurations or Beamforming.
