An industrial computer is connected with the industrial camera through a gigabit Ethernet; upgrade data is transmitted to the industrial camera by utilizing the gigabit Ethernet; the operation of the industrial camera is controlled by factory configuration codes; and firmware in a flash is completely replaced after an upgrade package is correctly received. The invention further discloses a method for upgrading the firmware of the camera by remote control and the camera capable of being subjected to remote firmware upgrading. Therefore, the shortcomings that the flexibility is poorer, a system is taken apart in the upgrading process and a storage device is programmed by reconnecting a download cable or using a programmer when the camera is upgraded by programming with the programmer or the special download cable in the prior art can be overcome.
