The invention belongs to the technical field of surgical implant coatings, and relates to a method for improving the content of a crystalline phase in a plasma-sprayed hydroxyapatite coating. The method comprises the following steps: placing a hydroxyapatite coating product in an evacuatable container, pumping out air in the container to form vacuum environment, introducing saturated water steam, heating the whole container to 500-900DEG C, and treating for 2-6h. A high temperature and the saturated water stem promote the conversion of an amorphous phase in the hydroxyapatite coating into the crystalline phase and also convert thermal decomposition products in the hydroxyapatite coating into the crystalline phase of the hydroxyapatite coating in order to greatly improve the content of the crystalline phase in the product coating. The method has the advantages of good coating treatment effect, stable process and suitableness for large scale production.
