These embodiments include providing a button or other activator that is associated with a patient and a timer that is associated with the patient and that represents the time since a rounding task was last performed for the patient. Activation of the activator by a nurse or other healthcare provider causes the patient's timer to reset. The status of the timers for a number of patients can be provided on a display, e.g., at a nurse station, to allow nurses or other healthcare providers to know at a glance which patients are currently, or likely to soon become, in need of another rounding care visit. The activator output can also be automatically registered in order to monitor performance of rounding tasks for the patient over time.

The present invention is a system and method for precise absolute time event generation and capture. One embodiment of the present invention is a programmable hardware module for TTL pulse generation and capture in absolute time. The nominal accuracy of the programmable hardware module is 25 ns. The time reference is an on-board GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver. The hardware embodiment of the present invention can generate eight independently programmable outputs and capture the times on eight independently programmable inputs. An exemplary application for the present invention is triggering external light sources, and flash-lamp pumped lasers in particular, at specific times for calibration of cosmic-ray observatories. A software embodiment of the present invention is implemented in a Linux software device driver interface featuring an extensive set of user commands.

At their other ends, the beams are joined by a crossbrace extending laterally across the vehicle centerline. In a central portion thereof, the beams have an axle pivot bore to which an axle clamp assembly is connected, the axle clamp assembly clamping a drive axle housing for the vehicle. The axle pivot bore is generally aligned with the drive axle. A control rod assembly is connected to suspension or frame components. Together with the beams, the control rod assembly forms a parallelogram configuration wherein the beams form the lower linkages of that configuration and the control rods included within the control rod assembly form the upper linkages of that configuration.

Systems and methods are provided for hydroprocessing a petroleum fraction, such as a bottoms fraction from a fuels hydrocracking process, to generate a lubricant base oil. A fuels hydrocracking process typically has less stringent requirements for the sulfur and nitrogen content of a feed as compared to a lubricant base oil. Additionally, depending on the nature of the feed for the fuels hydrocracking process, the bottoms fraction may contain a relatively high level of aromatics compounds. The aromatic content of such a petroleum fraction can be reduced using a aromatic saturation stage with multiple catalyst beds, or alternatively using a reactor (or reactors) with multiple aromatic saturation stages. The catalysts in the various beds or stages can be selected to provide different types of aromatic saturation activity. An initial bed or stage can provide activity for saturation of 1-ring aromatics in the petroleum fraction. One or more subsequent beds or stages, operating at successively lower temperature, can then be used to reduce the multiple-ring aromatic content of the petroleum fraction. 1. A method and apparatus for providing communication between participants of a shared user event, in which inputs from participants of the event cause a representation of the event at a user terminal to be updated. A time period is defined, from detection of a first input, during which subsequent inputs are collated, and the representation is updated at the end of the time period to take into account a combination of all the detected inputs. Information associated with a first optical signal (e.g., an optical pump) is encoded onto the phase of a second optical signal (e.g., an optical probe) using cross phase modulation (XPM) in a non-linear optical medium. The optical signals are multiplexed together into the nonlinear optical medium. The probe experiences a modified index of refraction as it propagates through the medium and thus accumulates a phase change proportional to the intensity of the pump. The techniques disclosed herein provide automatic escalation and de-escalation of roles and permissions based on user activity of a communication system. Initial event parameters, such as an event attendee list and a meeting type, can be established by a user input. When the system detects that one or more activities satisfies given criteria, the system can escalate or de-escalate the roles and permissions for specific attendees.
