Tamper resistant electrical plug

An electrical plug assembly may include a body having a plurality of electrical contact blades and an actuator. In particular embodiments, the plug assembly includes a shield member having a back and a front. The back has an opening arranged to receive the body therein and the front has a plurality of openings, wherein each opening is shaped, sized, and aligned with a respective one of the plurality of contact blades of the body. In a particular embodiment, the plug assembly further includes a biasing member positioned between the body of the plug and the back side of the shield member to operatively interact with the shield member to prevent electrical current flow and during operation the shield member may slide over the body and operatively engage the actuator to allow electrical current flow.

In-use outlet cover

A while-in-use electrical device cover that includes elliptical and more than five-sided cover shapes is disclosed. Specific implementations feature a while-in-use electrical device cover that includes a base having an aperture configured to receive the face of an electrical device, a lid configured to close over the base through a hinge while an electrical connector is inserted into the electrical device, and a cord port extending through a surface of the cover. The base and lid are substantially elliptical. The base, lid, and hinge may be manufactured from plastics or other conventional material for a while-in-use electrical device cover using conventional fabrication methods.

Electrical cord with tamper resistant mechanism

Tamper-resistant nightlight with touch-sensitive surface

A tamper resistant nightlight for placement in an electrical receptacle, the nightlight includes a body that has a base with an LED circuit and plug blades extending from the body. A housing includes a locking element configured to restrict a child from removing the nightlight from the electrical receptacle through a flange that extends away from the body to be positioned behind a rear surface of an electrical wall plate associated with the electrical receptacle to prevent the tamper resistant nightlight from being removed from the electrical receptacle while the electrical wall plate is coupled to the electrical receptacle.

Ceiling fan brace bracket

A ceiling fan brace bracket assembly with a bracket, at least two holes, at least one first screw, and at least one second screw. The bracket has a channel that opens toward a bottom of the bracket and at least one lip that extends along the channel. The channel is sized and shaped to extend around a ceiling fan brace. The at least two holes extend through the at least one lip, and each of the at least two holes is configured to align with a corresponding screw hole in an electrical box. The at least one first screw is a press-fit screw and is configured to extend downward through a first hole of the at least two holes. While in-use electrical device cover

An electrical device cover assembly is described. A base includes a perimeter edge, a cord port, at least two substantially perpendicular base walls joined by an angled wall, and an electrical outlet opening. A lid is moveable between open and closed positions. The lid includes two substantially perpendicular base walls joined by an angled lid wall, and a cord port notch. The base includes a hinge member adjacent the angled base wall that extends from the base toward the lid. The lid includes a hinge member adjacent the angled lid wall that extends from the lid toward the base, and a hinge shield that extends over both the lid hinge member and the base hinge member. The lid has a flexible element coupled to a lid ring, and is expandable so that the flexible element extends beyond the lid ring to enclose an electrical connector coupled with the electrical outlet.

Configurable electrical box

A configurable electrical box comprises an electrical box having a wall structure that defines an internal space, a front open end, and a rear open end. The wall structure comprises at least one pair of opposing walls. In addition, at least two slots disposed through at least one wall of the pair of opposing walls. A dividing plate is slidably coupled with one of the at least two slots and is positionable between an engaged position and an unengaged position. The dividing plate is in contact with both of the pair of opposing walls when in the engaged position.

Powered wall plate with keyed interface

A powered wall plate may include a face plate comprising an opening extending through the face plate from the first surface to the rear surface. A first keyed interface may be formed at the rear surface of the face plate. An electrical receptacle may comprise a second keyed interface configured to be coupled with the first keyed interface, the electrical receptacle further comprising terminals disposed on sides of the electrical receptacle. Spring-biased terminals may be coupled to the face plate and coupled with the terminals. A powered feature may be coupled to the face plate and configured to be electrically coupled to the electrical receptacle through the spring-biased terminals when the first keyed interface and the second keyed interface are mateably coupled. Power may not be supplied from the electrical receptacle to the powered feature when the first keyed interface is not mateably coupled with the second keyed interface.

Expandable cord protector

A cord protector comprising at least one elongated body and at least one coupler. The elongated body has a base and a lid, and has a cavity in each of the first end and second end of the elongated body. The base has a channel extending between the first end and the second end in which a cord may rest. The channel may have one or more ridges. The lid is configured to insert into and cover the channel, and may have one or more grooves sized and shaped to receive a ridge. The coupler has a leading end and a trailing end. The leading end is sized and shaped to mate with the cavity of the first end and the trailing end is sized and shaped to mate with the cavity of the second end. Multiple elongated bodies can be coupled together through the use of the couplers.

ELECTRICAL DEVICE COVER WITH KEYHOLE INSERTS

Horizontal and vertical slide-mountable electrical device cover

A simple, two piece slide-on electrical device cover assembly can be adapted for either horizontal or vertical mounting on the same base. Removable rail members that are coupled to the cover through thinned or partially broken or grooved sections enable the rail members to be snapped off under reasonable force. A manufacturer can package and ship a product in a generic configuration and allow an installer to select whether a horizontal or vertical configuration is desired, and quickly adapt and assembly the product for either configuration.

Adjustable thermostat cover with detents and level

A thermostat cover includes a base with four walls and an aperture sized such that at least a portion of a thermostat may be received. A lid is slidably mounted on the base at a front side of the base. The lid has a slide member that couples with a slide rail located on the base. In another embodiment, the lid has a slide member that extends from the lid and couples with an extension track located on the base. The extension track is configured in an L-shape such that the lid is collapsible with a first position and a second position. The extension track may have stops that hold the lid in the second position. In another embodiment, the lid is hingedly coupled to the base. A support rod is configured to hold the lid in a raised position.

Configurable electrical outlet cover enclosure

An electrical outlet cover with a lid having a configurable protrusion or recess to accommodate different uses and weather resistance states. The electrical outlet cover includes a base coupled to an electrical outlet and a lid hingedly coupled to the base along a first side. The lid includes a frame with a central aperture and a telescoping enclosure with a flange at a front edge of a sleeve, the flange extending outward from the sleeve. The sleeve may include a ledge extending outward from the sleeve adjacent a back edge of the sleeve on at least two sides of the sleeve. The sleeve is slidably coupled within the central aperture and movable between an expanded position and a collapsed position. The flange may abut the frame in the collapsed position and the ledge may abut the frame in the expanded position.

A floor electrical outlet cover may be disposed over and coupled to a floor electrical outlet, the floor electrical outlet cover comprising a first color and further comprising at least one opening aligned with the floor electrical outlet, and at least one flap coupled to the floor electrical outlet cover, the flap configured to move from a closed position that restricts access to the floor electrical outlet to an open position that provides access to the floor electrical outlet. A colored electrical plate cover may comprise a second color different from the first color and a structural element coupled to the floor electrical outlet cover. An electrical device cover having a base with a wall structure includes of at least a two pairs of opposing walls located perpendicular to each other and an opening in a back side large enough to receive an electrical device. An exterior surface of at least a first wall has at least one rails running perpendicular to a plane in which the back side of the base resides and the base of a detachable hinge component is slidably coupled to the at least one rail. The detachable hinge component further includes at least one hinge member that is parallel to the base of the hinge component and a lid includes at least one hinge tab in which the at least one hinge member seats such the lid is pivotally coupled to the hinge component.

An electrical outlet cover assembly having a base and a lid is disclosed. The base comprises a first base hinge aperture, and the lid comprises a first lid hinge aperture. The lid is hingedly coupled to the base by at least a first pin. The first pin is rotatably coupled to one of the first lid hinge aperture and the first base hinge aperture, and rotationally fixed with respect to the other of the first lid hinge aperture and the first base hinge aperture. The lid is biased from an open position to a closed position by a rotational bias from a bias element that is mechanically engaged with an end of the first pin and with an anchor rotationally fixed with respect to one of the lid and the base. The first pin may include teeth and is rotationally fixed with respect to complementary teeth of a hinge aperture.

A wire connector includes an outer shell with a wire cavity therein, a plurality of raised ribs on the surface of the outer shell, each of the raised ribs having a rib cap overmolded on to a top surface with a gap between the rib cap corresponding to each of the raised ribs and the rib cap corresponding to each adjacent raised rib. Two leverage wings may extend outward from the outer shell on opposing sides. A wire skirt may be overmolded around the open end of the outer shell, the wire skirt and plurality of rib caps formed of a material more flexible than a material used to form the outer shell. A wing rib may be overmolded onto a portion of the first side of each leverage wing. A base of the wire connector may include texture in the form of raised grip bumps of various shapes.

A cover for electrical devices is disclosed. Particular implementations include an electrical device cover configured to mount over an electrical device includes a lid having a flexible membrane. The lid is coupled by a hinge to a base and the cover includes a cord port in an edge of a surface of the cover. The lid is configured to expand through the flexible membrane to an expanded position to accommodate an electrical connector coupled with the electrical device. The lid may also be configured to reduce in depth as the lid retracts from the expanded position to a retracted position through the flexible membrane.

Enclosure with accessible connection

An electrical device enclosure has an enclosure box and two mounting plates is disclosed. The mounting plates are electrically conductive and coupled to the enclosure box. Each plate includes at least one device mounting hole positioned and sized to receive a device mounting screw that passes through a yoke of an electrical device. At least one of the mounting plates also has a grounding tab extending away from the plate and configured to receive a ground screw. The grounding tab is conductive and integral to the mounting plate.

Mounting plate for mounting an electrical device to an electrical device box

A electrical device mounting box that includes a device mounting plate with a screw coupler is disclosed. The electrical device mounting box and device mounting plate may be used to mount an electrical outlet receptacle. Specific implementations of the device mounting plate allow a screw to be pushed through a screw aperture on the device mounting plate and a coupling aperture on the screw coupler without rotation of the screw. The coupling aperture may bias away from the mounting plate as the screw is pushed through the coupling aperture. The coupling aperture may also include threading that engages with screw threading. Once the screw is pushed through the screw aperture and coupling aperture, the screw may be rotated to engage the screw with the screw coupler, thus biasing the screw coupler toward the device mounting plate. The screw coupler may include either a one or two piece screw coupler.

Low profile electrical device cover

An electrical outlet cover assembly having a base and a lid is disclosed. The base comprises a first base hinge aperture, and the lid comprises a first lid hinge aperture. The lid is hingedly coupled to the base by at least a first pin. The first pin is rotatably coupled to one of the first lid hinge aperture and the first base hinge aperture, and rotationally fixed with respect to the other of the first lid hinge aperture and the first base hinge aperture. The lid is biased from an open position to a closed position by a rotational bias from a bias element that is mechanically engaged with an end of the first pin and with an anchor rotationally fixed with respect to one of the lid and the base. The first pin may include teeth and is rotationally fixed with respect to complementary teeth of a hinge aperture.

Toggle switch cover adapter

A weatherproof toggle switch cover adapter assembly comprises a cover plate adapted for placement over a toggle switch and coupling with an electrical junction box. A lever rotationally pivotably coupled with the cover plate is in mechanical communication with the toggle switch through a yoke. When the lever is moved to an on position, the toggle switch also moves to an on position. The yoke comprises two opposing tines defining a yoke spanning gap having a perimeter edge, the yoke spanning gap sized to straddle the toggle switch. An adapter ring comprising an external perimeter edge and an internal perimeter edge is interposed between the yoke and the toggle switch. The external perimeter edge is in communication with the perimeter edge of the yoke. The internal perimeter edge is inside two opposing tines and is disposed about an adapter spanning gap sized to straddle the toggle switch.

Safety outlet

A safety outlet comprises an electrical outlet having both hot and neutral plug blade apertures each with respective output contacts and input contacts associated. A safety tab is disposed adjacent each of the respective output contacts and the input contacts and is positionable between a disengaged position and an engaged position. In the engaged position, the output contacts and the input contacts of the respective plug blade apertures are electrically isolated from each other. In the disengaged position, the output contacts and the input contacts of each of the respective plug blade apertures are in electrically conductive contact to complete a respective hot plug blade circuit and a respective neutral plug blade circuit to activate the respective hot and neutral plug blade apertures. The safety tabs are operatively responsive to move to its disengaged position when a plug blade is positioned within the respective aperture.

Stackable and collapsible electrical box

An electrical box has a back portion with a back wall and various side walls. Coupled to the back portion is a sliding ring portion having various side walls. The sliding ring portion is slidably mounted on the back portion such that there is an extended position with a first depth and a collapsed position with a second depth where the first depth is greater than the second depth. Prior to installation, the electrical box would be in the collapsed position in order to minimize the space occupied by the electrical box. When installed, the electrical box would be used in the extended position, such that the full depth of the electrical box can be used.

Wax melting system

A wax melting system including a melting stage and a holding stage is disclosed. Implementations may include a melting stage having a porous bottom configured to permit flow of melted wax from the melting stage to the holding stage. A vessel may also be included. The melting stage and the holding stage may be coupled with the vessel and the melting stage oriented above the holding stage. The vessel may enclose the melting stage and the temperature of the melting stage may be maintained above the temperature of the holding stage. A method of melting therapeutic wax is also provided.

Expandable in-use outlet cover

A telescoping in-use cover plate that includes at least two inter-fitting members that enable the cover to be retracted to the wall when not in use and expanded to increase the depth of the outlet cover and allow a plug to be plugged into the outlet when the cover is closed. System for adjustably mounting an electrical device

An adjustably mountable electrical device with one or more yokes coupled to the electrical device, at least one electrically conductive strap, and an electrical device face, wherein a distance between the electrical device face and at least one of the yoke, the strap and an electrical box mounting screw aperture is adjustable after the electrical device is mounted to the electrical box. The system may comprise mounting flanges that may have threaded hubs or the system may further comprise an electric device having front and back shells moveable on a track in response to depression of a button allowing for movement of the back shell so that the electric device may be mounted having its face coplanar with a front wall surface.

An expansion arm moveable between a first collapsed position when the expansion section is at its first depth and an second expanded position when the expansion section is at its second depth, wherein in the second position the expansion arm is in contact with and supports the lid at its second depth is also provided.

Systems and methods for providing end-of-life functionality in an electrical component using a count of plugging operations are shown. In some configurations, a GFCI counts plugging operations and then provides an LED end-of-life indication when a threshold of plugging operations is met.

Powered wall plate

A powered wall plate with a plug-in module having an electrical plug and an module cover. The electrical plug has at least two electrical prongs that are configured to removably mate with an electrical receptacle. The module cover is located adjacent to the electrical plug and has a surround configured to extend around a portion of the perimeter of the wall plate, an LED light located along a bottom edge of the module cover, a USB port exposed on a surface of the module cover, and a circuit contained within the module cover and configured to supply power to the USB port and the LED light when power is supplied to the electrical prongs. The wall plate has a first mounting screw aperture and the plug-in module has a second mounting screw aperture that receive a mounting screw, attaching the plug-in module to the wall plate and the electrical device.

Particular implementations of electrical outlet cover comprise a base comprising a first opening allowing access to the electrical outlet, a first cover comprising a second opening allowing access to the electrical outlet, and a second cover covering the second opening. In particular implementations, the first cover and second cover have opening axes substantially perpendicular to each other. The second cover may be a flat cover or a while in use cover, and in particular implementations the first and second covers may be biased closed.

Extendable electrical box

An extendable electrical box comprises an electrical box having two open ends to an internal box space having a first depth. The electrical box comprises a mounting structure attached to at least one wall of the electrical box. The mounting structure is configured to mount the electrical box to a vertical wall structure such that the open end faces substantially parallel to the vertical wall structure. At least two extendable first rings each continuously surround one of the two open ends of the electrical box. In an aspect, a universal conduit body assembly comprises a universal conduit body having a first port attached thereto. The first port is sized and shaped to connect the conduit body with one or more conduits or plugs. A cavity is at least partially defined by the conduit body, and the cavity comprises at least two open sides and sufficient space for containment of one or more spliced wires within the conduit body. Two or more removable panels each sized and shaped to cover a portion of the universal conduit body and selectively attach to each of the at least two open sides of the cavity are provided. At least one of the two or more panels includes a second port sized and shaped to connect the panel with the one or more conduits or plugs.

The plurality of plug apertures is configured to align with an electrical receptacle on the electrical outlet. A self-leveling floor mounted electrical outlet assembly may include a cylindrical housing with a threaded inner surface. An extendable electrical outlet enclosure with a tubular main body, a bezel, a cap, at least one extension tube, and a back plate. The tubular main body has a first end, a second end, and a wall extending between the first end and second end. The tubular main body also has an electrical device support that extends inward from the wall and defines a separation between an electrical plug section and a wiring section. The bezel surrounds an opening in the main body at the first end and allows the cap to removably mount to the electrical enclosure. The at least one extension tube attaches to the tubular main body at the second end and has a leading end, a trailing end, and an outer wall extending between the leading end and the trailing end. Two leverage wings may extend outward from the outer shell on opposing sides. A wire skirt may be overmolded around the open end of the outer shell, the wire skirt and plurality of rib caps formed of a material more flexible than a material used to form the outer shell. A wing rib may be overmolded onto a portion of the first side of each leverage wing. A base of the wire connector may include texture in the form of raised grip bumps of various shapes.

An electrical box comprising an adjustable voltage divider may include a housing comprising an inner surface and ribs or threads integrally formed on the inner surface of the rectangular housing. A voltage divider plate may be disposed within the housing with vertical edges of the voltage divider plate extending along and held in place between the ribs or threads integrally formed on the inner surface of the housing, the voltage divider plate dividing the housing into a high voltage area and a low voltage area. The at least one opening extends through the cover plate and is sized to allow access to the electrical device through the at least one opening. The at least one access door is sized and shaped to fit within the at least one opening, and has a hinge with a hinge axis. The at least one access door is configured to translate along the hinge axis and rotate about the hinge axis to move between a closed position and an open position. The at least one access door is aligned with and inside of the at least one opening when in the closed position, and is misaligned with the at least one opening when in the open position.

A first end of the rib cap may be adjacent the open end of the body and a second end of the rib cap may be adjacent the closed end of the body. The enclosure has a front wall, a side wall extending rearward from the front wall, and a ledge extending outward from the side wall. The side wall of the enclosure has a first groove and a second groove. A snap-in zip connector with a clamp for gripping a wire between a first bracket and a second bracket. The first bracket includes a clamp seat and a first fastener opening formed by an elongated slot and hole joined together and extending through the clamp seat. An insert positioned in the elongated slot includes a spring arm extending into the circular hole extend into the circular hole that engages a threaded shaft of the fastener to restrict removal except through rotation of the at least one fastener.

A pop-up power system with a hollow tower to support an electrical receptacle. The lid includes a lid locking mechanism, and the tower being rotatable between a locked position and an unlocked position. A mounting sleeve receives the tower body through it and includes a locking mechanism alignable with the lid locking mechanism. A liner is positioned between the tower body and the mounting sleeve, the liner comprising a groove for the guide pin in an interior surface of the liner which surrounds and slideably engages the body and is rotatably connected to the mounting sleeve.
