The invention relates to a method for regenerating the extractive potential of an organic hydroxyoxime-based ex- traction solution used in the recovery of metals by liquid- liquid extraction. The method is two-stage, in which a solid hydroxylamine is used in the reaction stage, and the removal of the undesirable compounds generated in the re- action occurs in the second stage by adsorption purification. The anion exchanger is converted to formate form by feeding into it a sodium formate solution, a formic acid solution or a solution which contains both sodium formate and formic acid. The method can be used for production of potassium formate or calcium formate.
