When the received sensor data indicates that the paper is lagging or leading, the controller calculates a period of time to drive the drive the pick/feed motor at a higher or lower speed to compensate for the lagging or leading of the paper.

A system and method for urging stray toner away from sealing areas on rotating shafts in electrostatic process units includes a shaft that is associated with a rotating component of the electrostatic process unit such as a toner mixer, a waste auger, a developer, or a photoconductive drum. The shaft includes sealing areas at either end of the shaft that are configured to prevent toner leakage through the sealing areas, and protruding ridges in the sealing areas that encircle the shaft. The protruding ridges are angled relative to the axis of the shaft such that rotation of the shaft causes the protruding ridges to urge stray toner away from the sealing areas. The protruding ridges substantially reduce toner leakage through the sealing areas of rotating shafts of electrostatic process units.

Method and apparatus for identifying, classifying, or quantifying dna sequences in a sample without sequencing

This invention provides methods by which biologically derived DNA sequences in a mixed sample or in an arrayed single sequence clone can be determined and classified without sequencing. The methods make use of information on the presence of carefully chosen target subsequences, typically of length from 4 to 8 base pairs, and preferably the length between target subsequences in a sample DNA sequence together with DNA sequence databases containing lists of sequences likely to be present in the sample to determine a sample sequence. The preferred method uses restriction endonucleases to recognize target subsequences and cut the sample sequence. Then carefully chosen recognition moieties are ligated to the cut fragments, the fragments amplified, and the experimental observation made. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is the preferred method of amplification. Several alternative embodiments are described which are capable of increased discrimination and which use TypeIIS restriction endonucleases, various capture moieties, or samples of specially synthesized cDNA. Another embodiment of the invention uses information on the presence or absence of carefully chosen target subsequences in a single sequence clone together with DNA sequence databases to determine the clone sequence. Computer implemented methods are provided to analyze the experimental results and to determine the sample sequences in question and to carefully choose target subsequences in order that experiments yield a maximum amount of information.

A microprocessor device used as an adapter for a communications loop of the closed-ring, token-passing, local area network type. Each station on the ring has a host processor with a host CPU, a main memory, and a system bus. The microprocessor device, operating relatively independent of the host CPU, is coupled to the main memory by the system bus and includes a local CPU, a local read/write memory, an on-chip timer, a local bus and a bus arbiter. A transmit/receive controller is connected between the ring and the microprocessor device. This controller is coupled to the local bus to directly access the local read/write memory, also under control of the bus arbiter. The local CPU executes instructions fetched from a ROM accessed by the local bus, so the local CPU instruction fetch, the direct memory access from the transmit/receive controller for transmitting or receiving data frames, and the access from the host CPU for copying transmitted or received message frames, all contend for the local bus. Bus arbitration with appropriate priorities is used to control access to the local bus. The on-chip timer accessed by the local bus provides the time period used to monitor and control the communications protocol.

The embodiments include preparing a module, such as a dynamically loadable module (DLM) for use in the networked system accessed by the users. Each of the networked devices is enabled to accept the DLM. The embodiments forward the DLM to the networked devices as a print job along a print job submission path within the network. The networked devices recognize the DLM as a special job. Further, the networked devices use the DLM to install the XML file on each of the networked devices. Thus, the authentication server lists and authentication programs are updated within each of the networked devices using the DLM.

Carbonylation can be effected-using a CO/H2 mixture and hydrogenolysis can similarly be conducted in the presence of carbon monoxide, leading to the possibility of circulating gas between the carbonylation and hydrogenolysis zones with synthesis gas, preferably a 2:1 H2:CO molar mixture being used as make up gas.
