The battery switch access system (212) includes a battery switch (210) configured to selectively switch a battery (118) to an ON state and an OFF state. Further, the battery switch access system (212) includes an access panel (216) configured to selectively provide access to the battery switch (210). A locking device (218) associated with the access panel (216) is provided and configured to prevent an opening of the access panel (216). Further, a controller (214) is operatively connected to the battery switch (210) and the locking device (218). The controller (214) is configured to selectively disable an operation of the battery switch (210) for a predetermined amount of time after an engine shut down. Furthermore, the controller (214) selectively locks the access panel (216) by using the locking device (218) for the predetermined amount of time.
