This mixture is pressurized and, subsequently, is cooled to an appropriate temperature at an elevated pressure, and is extruded through a die at rates in excess of 1000 kg/hr to produce an expanded and dimensionally-stable, predominantely closed cell propylene polymer foam with a density of between 10 kg/m3 and 150 kg/m3, and with a thickness in excess of 1.3 cm. The resultant foamed structure is characterized by a Foamability Index of greater than 1.9 and an Ebullition Time of less than 2.0 x 10-4 seconds.

Propylene-based blend compositions

Номер: CA3240673A1
Принадлежит: Individual

Propylene-based elastomer compositions that include a blend of a majority polymer fraction having a higher Mw and a minority polymer fraction having a lower Mw, methods of making same, and hot melt adhesives including such compositions. The polymer blend compositions can include: a major polymer fraction having a Mw of about 100,000 to about 300,000 and a melt flow rate of about 0.1 g/10 min to about 70.0 g/10 min, according to ASTM D1238; and a minor polymer fraction having a Mw of about 5,000 to about 60,000 and a Brookfield viscosity of about 500 cP to about 50,000 cP, according to ASTM D-3236 (190°C), wherein an amount of the at least one other polyolefin comonomer in the minor polymer fraction is at least 7 wt% less than an amount of the at least one other polyolefin comonomer in the major polymer fraction.

Underwater pelletizing method for low viscosity hydrocarbon resins

Номер: US09994664B2
Принадлежит: ExxonMobil Chemical Patents Inc

An underwater pelletizing method for pelletizing brittle hydrocarbon resins with low melt viscosity. A feed material comprising the hydrocarbon resin is formed into a melt, extruded through a die into a water bath below the Tg of the hydrocarbon resin to form a plurality of extrudates and cut adjacent the die surface to form a slurry of resin pellets. A graft monomer and/or other reactants, such as a hydrosilylation agent, may be introduced into the resin melt to chemically modify the hydrocarbon resin.
