Disclosed is a process for reducing the emission of volatile organic compounds that are produced during the ketonization of carboxylic acids to ketones. The ketonization of carboxylic acids produces a gaseous by-product stream containing carbon dioxide and volatile organic compounds. This gaseous by-product stream can be fed to a direct-fired furnace used to heat the ketonization reaction feed streams where the volatile organic compounds are destroyed by combustion in the furnace. The carbon dioxide stream further acts as a diluent for the fuel to the furnace. 1. A process for reducing the emission of volatile organic compounds from a ketonization process , comprising(i). heating a vaporized feed stream comprising one or more carboxylic acids in a direct-fired furnace comprising a combustion zone to produce a superheated feed stream;(ii). contacting the superheated feed stream with a metal oxide catalyst to form a gaseous product mixture comprising one or more ketones, carbon dioxide, and one or more volatile organic compound by-products;(iii). separating the one or more ketones from the carbon dioxide and one or more volatile organic compound by-products; and(iv). feeding at least a portion of the carbon dioxide and the one or more volatile organic compound by-products to the combustion zone of the direct-fired furnace.2. Systems and methods are provided for monitoring, recording and/or reporting information about incidents that occur within proximity of an aircraft. When an incident monitoring mode is activated, external imagers of the aircraft begin recording of video images outside the aircraft in a temporary buffer as pre-event video data. Motion sensors that detect movement in the vicinity of the aircraft, and movement sensors that detect movement of the aircraft are also enabled. When a sensor detects a trigger event, an incident report file (IRF) is saved that includes the pre-event video data that is stored in the temporary buffer. Post-event video images are then recorded in the IRF as post-event video data until a condition occurs. Alarm signals that are perceptible outside the aircraft, and an incident report message can be generated and communicated to an external computer to indicate that an incident has occurred in proximity of the aircraft. 1. A freezing of gait cue apparatus that provides a visual cue, and a method for providing a visual cue, upon detection of a gait irregularity. The gait irregularity, such as a freeze of gait (FOG) for sufferers of neurological diseases like Parkinson's disease, is determined by a processor in communication with a motion sensor worn by the sufferer. Through the use of the present invention, an extra level of tamper protection is added to the PC since it would require an attacker to disable the RTM module as well as the diagnostic program. Additionally, the preferred embodiment of the present invention provides cost differentiation to the Original Equipment Manufacturer whereby customers that do not want or need this level of protection can be provided with platforms that are built without it at a substantially lower cost.

A filter driver in a kernel space may be configured to control service requests to encrypted files stored in a shared area, e.g., a shared directory on a disk unit, accessible by multiple users. Upon receiving the encrypted data, the filter driver may decrypt the encrypted data. The filter driver may subsequently store the decrypted data in a file in a non-shared area, e.g., a non-shared directory. The non-shared area may be accessible only by the authorized user that requested access to the encrypted file. By storing the decrypted data in a file in the non-shared area, a file once decrypted may be protected in a file sharing environment.
