Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von mehrschichtigen Materialbahnen dadurch, dass man mit einer Trägerschicht aus einer Kunststofffolie sowie mindestens einer mit dieser verschweißten in Wellen angeordneten Vliesschicht, wobei man das Vlies über fächerförmig angeordnete Fingerleisten einer Rillen aufweisenden Walze zuführt, wobei die Verlängerung der Finger auf die Rillen oder deren Ränder ausgerichtet sind und dabei das Vlies in die Rillenvertiefungen einführt. Dabei wird die Bahnbreite gerafft und über die so gewellte Vliesbahn die Kunststofffolie kontinuierlich aufgetragen und mit Hilfe von den Rillenoberkanten zugeordneten Heizelementen miteinander verschweißt.

A carrier maintains lateral tension on the sheet as it is heated, thermo-formed and calibrated so as to maintain its uniform lateral width. The thermo-forming rollers and calibrator form and maintain the corrugations until the material cools to below the glass transition temperature. A method for producing the corrugations is likewise disclosed.

An expanded resilient product (130) having a plurality of slits formed therein is disclosed. One embodiment has a plurality of slits formed in a resilient material thereafter the material is extended to produce an expanded material which is then bonded to at least one surface in order to retain the expanded nature of the product. In another embodiment, each slit is defined by a first internal surface (170) having a protruding portion (160) and second internal surface (172) having a recess portion (168) corresponding to the protruding portion of the first surface which together form an interlocking fit between the two. Forces are applied to the product to dislodge a protruding portion from the recess portion, thereby forming a plurality of gaps (174). The product is then permitted to relax to prevent the protruding portions from re-engaging the recess portions and thereby maintaining the expanded nature of the product.

The present invention generally relates to systems for corrugating extruded sheet material. A system for forming an extruded corrugated sheet generally comprises an extruder and a corrugating roller region. The corrugating roller region may comprise a plurality of upper corrugating rollers positioned to engage a top side of the extruded sheet and a plurality of lower corrugating rollers positioned to engage a bottom side of the extruded sheet. In a continuous sheet casting process, to form tufted &c. sheet material, the moulding belt is flexed during the actual casting, to facilitate complete penetration of the material into the fibre forming cavities, and is flexed again during the stripping to elongate the fibres beyond their elastic limit and to curl them (see Fig. 5, not shown). In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the moulding material 30 is applied to an endless flexible belt, as it is distorted over roller 16, by an ultrasonically vibrated squeegee bar 28, the material being subsequently cured or partially cured by a dielectric high frequency heater 34. Further coats 52, 54 are than applied by vibrated bars 48, 50, the coats cured by an infra red heater 60, and the finished sheet P stripped from the belt as it passes over roller 20, to cooler 64. The belt is supported over a table 38 by a second belt 40 during the baking steps and a serim or fabric may be applied. If required the belt 40 may be replaced by a sealed porous belt to which a vacuum is applied so that penetration of the material is further facilitated. In a second embodiment (see Fig. 2, not shown) both the fibre forming layer and a backing layer are applied to the belt as it is flexed over a roller, the two layers being subsequently cured in one step. In a third embodiment (see Fig. 3, not shown) a fibre forming layer is applied to the belt, a backing layer of fabric or serim then applied, the whole then being bonded and cured by a dielectric heater, cooled by passage through a water bath, and wound up on to a suitable roll. The belt is made by arranging short metal filaments 150 and magnetised chuck 152, forming a frame around the chuck, and casting a liquid rubber in the mould thus formed.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in continuous conveying of plate strip from the hopper to the moulding devices and corrugating in the first moulding device, production of edges on it, which form a constant slope relative to the edges of the plate strip. After conveying of corrugated strip at least to another moulding device for strip deformation in one or several stages, the edges are removed in the marginal areas outside the middle area of the strip with the aid of a pair of rolls by plastic deformation, and at the same time they are replaced by bent edges, whose slopes continuously grow from the middle area to the edges of the strip. The invention provides for an installation that is provided with the first moulding device for strip corrugating and the second moulding device for deformation of the corrugated plate strip with the aid of a pair rolls containing non-deforming profiles in the middle area, and deforming profiles in the marginal area. A sheet material having a hirsute or suedelike finish is formed by sheet casting a layer of an elastomeric resinous material, hardenable by polymerization, fusion or vulcanization, upon an endless flexible moulding belt 20 having a multiplicity of passages 15 upon its moulding surface. As shown in Fig. 6, a decorative film or layer of ink, for retention upon the finished article, is applied to the moulding surface of the belt 20 by a printer 23, after which a layer of a polyvinyl plastisol 24 is applied by a spreader 25. The belt then passes through a semi-evacuated chamber 26, to completely fill the passages 15 with plastisol and then through a heating chamber 30 to solidify the thus formed layer after which the layer is stripped from the belt. If required, a second layer of material 27 may be applied by a spreader 28. A backing layer, e.g. a textile ply, or a layer of foamed or unfoamed elastomeric material, which is coated with a heat-actuated adhesive and may be embossed or printed, may be applied from a roll 31 by a roll 34 after passing under an infrared, steam, or electric heater 32. The laminate thus formed is passed through a cooler and then stripped from the belt over rolls 35 and stored on roll 36. The moulding belt is formed by pressing a board carrying needles or the like (see Fig. 1, not shown) into a soft substance which may be hardenable to form a primary negative mould from which is produced a series of positive moulds which are conjoined either by cement or a backing layer 10 from a large positive mould. A large negative mould 20<SP>1</SP> of e.g. rubber is then cast from the large positive mould, several such negative moulds being joined to form the moulding belt 20. Manufacture of this strapping is by a method and apparatus in which a band formed of essentially unoriented thermoplastic polymeric material is provided with a transverse cross-section which is of corrugated configuration and is generally uniform in thickness, with at least portions of such band being compressed so as to orient polymer molecules in the transverse direction of the band, after which the band is elongated to orient polymer molecules thereof also and predominantly in the longitudinal direction of the band.

A system for producing a multiple layer material ( 49 ), comprising first and second corrugation rolls ( 14, 15 ) for providing a corrugated profile ( 16 ) having a plurality of crests ( 47 ), wherein the system further comprises first and second press rolls ( 21, 22 ) for applying a material sheet ( 19, 20 ) to crests ( 47 ) of the corrugated profile ( 16 ), and a plurality of heating members ( 28 ) arranged between the press rolls ( 21, 22 ) for welding the material sheet ( 19, 20 ) to the crests ( 47 ) of the corrugated profile ( 16 ) to form the multiple layer material ( 49 ). A guiding plate ( 48 ) is arranged between the corrugation 10 rolls ( 14, 15 ) and the heating members ( 28 ). The guiding plate ( 16 ) is arranged with a profile engaging side ( 50 ) having a plurality of crests ( 52 ) corresponding to the crests ( 47 ) of the corrugated profile ( 16 ). A cooling arrangement is provided for cooling the guiding plate ( 48 ). A method for producing the multiple layer material ( 49 ) is also disclosed.
