The closure is formed of conventional metal stock and includes, as formed, a central portion domed to define either a concave configuration or a convex configuration as viewed from the exterior of the container. The domed portion, as a step or steps prior to filling, is predeflected, either once or twice depending upon its initial configuration, to arrive at an outwardly domed configuration preparatory to inward deflection in response to the cooling of the product and for the accommodation of an internally generated vacuum.

The bottom is attached to the sleeve at the lower end of the interior with a bottom skirt in an essentially liquid-tight way. A lower edge of the widening forms a standing surface for the cup. A bottom for a paper cup is formed by advancing a punch against a paperboard web to push the web against a cutting edge which cuts out a circular cup bottom blank from the web. The punch is kept in a forward state to clamp an outer peripheral portion of the blank immovably against a surfac e of a sleeve. A reciprocable draw is advanced against a center portion of the blank to push the center portion into a circular opening of the sleeve while maintaining the clamping force, to cause the center portion of the blank to become stretched. The clamping force is then progressively released to permi t the outer peripheral portion to enter the opening and become bent to form a lip extending at a substantially right angle. The lip is compressed within a gap formed between the draw and a surface of the opening. Because of the stretching of the blank, pleats formed in the lip are only in the form of micropleats that are flattened in a non-folded over state.

Packaging container for test products, made of laminated paper - has outer walls in form of sleeves which are joined together and has inner paper support elastically or rigidly joined to sleeves

The outer walls of the container are formed by bringing the edges of two beaker shaped, laminated paper sleeves (2,3) together. The inner support element (1) is also made of laminated paper. There is a support between the upper joint of the upper sleeve (2) and the lower joint of the lower sleeve (3). The lower sleeve may have its inner wall elastically or rigidly attached to the outer wall of the support with mastic or glue. At the upper joint, the edge of the support is angled. Both sleeve are identical in construction and dimensions. USE/ADVANTAGE - For packaging dangerous products for testing. Despite not using metal, the container retains its rigidity. Can hold 5 to 250 litres.

CONTAINER AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME This relates to a bottom construction for a composite container wherein the container body is of a composite construction such as a wound paper tube having a plastic material liner. The bottom construction includes a generally cup-shaped closure element formed from a plastic material sheet which is molded in situ within the bottom end of the tubular body with the plastic material being heated to a molding temperature with the temperature being such that the plastic material of the closure will self-bond to the plastic material of the liner. The closure is of a generally hat-shaped configuration and includes a central cup portion which is telescoped within the end of the tubular body and which is then provided with a reinforcing disk, after which the extreme end portion of the tubular body is curled or rolled radially inwardly to abut against the underside of the reinforcing disk to complete the bottom construction.

RETORT CUP

A retort cup is provided with a cylindrical barrel portion formed of a barrel portion forming blank having a paper layer and thermoplastic resin layers provided on both surfaces of the paper layer; and a bottom portion which seals one of the openings of the barrel portion. The bottom portion has a downwardly bent peripheral edge portion. The barrel portion has an attached barrel overlap portion where both end edges of the barrel portion forming blank are overlapped with each other and sealed, a lower fold-back portion which is formed at a lower end of the barrel portion by folding the barrel portion forming blank inwardly, and an upper fold-back portion which is formed by folding the ends of the folded barrel portion forming blank inwardly. The lower end of the barrel portion, the upper fold-back portion, and the peripheral edge portion of the bottom portion are tightly sealed together, with the peripheral edge portion of the bottom being inserted into the lower fold-back portion.

An insulative container (10) is formed to include an interior region (14) and a mouth opening into the interior region. The container (10) includes a floor (20) and a side wall (18) coupled to the floor (20) to define the interior region between the floor and the side wall. The body comprises insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material for enabling localized plastic deformation in at least one selected region of the body.

A dough can capable of venting internal gasses during proofing until the dough expands to fill the volume of the container is disclosed. The container of the present invention includes a cylindrical body, at least one end cap, a second end and means for allowing venting of internal gasses during proofing. A method for manufacturing a vesicant cup includes a cut fan-shape vesicant plate having thinner upper and lower arcs formed as upper and lower edges. The vesicant plate is rolled and pressed on two stacking joints formed on left and right edges of the vesicant plate respectively. The pressed joints are thinner than other portions of the cup body not being pressed. A lip is formed by rolling up the upper edge outward, and a bottom join is formed by folding up the lower edge inwards. An edge of a vesicant cup bottom is bent downwards as a round joint for connecting and sealing the bottom joint of the vesicant cup body. A thickness of the round joint, bottom joint and the vesicant cup body corresponding to the round joint is thinner than other portions of the vesicant cup body not being pressed.

This invention relates to a method of manufacturing a carton from a PET coated material having an initially separate base (42) and side wall (44) sections which are adhered together by melting the PET coating. Subsequent application of pressure to different areas of one or other of the base and/or side wall sections ensures a secure bond therebetween. The invention lies in the application of heat to the material and/or coating such that only sections of board which are to be bonded together receive sufficient heat to cause melting of the PET coating, the remaining surfaces not being subjected to heat or only to an amount of heat which can be withstood by the PET coating without compromise of the fluid resistant properties of the PET coating. A hot air blast acutely angled to the coating ensures the correct application of heat in the desired areas. Heat-splash and other problems caused by over heating are thus avoided.
