Укладку ведут циклически с асимметричным расположением петель равной длины и со знакопеременным их смещением по циклам. За счет этого перегибы свободновисящих петель не сминаются как внутри слоя, так и между слоями. Количество смещений петель полотна за один цикл не должно быть меньше величины, равной отношению величины прироста радиуса за один цикл к удвоенной толщине ткани. 2 ил.

Apparatus to separate web parts from a continuous web and feed them in zig-zag fashion onto a stack. Arranged at the sides of stack are holding-down elements designed in the manner of a paddle. These holding-down elements are moved along an elliptical path in such a way that they execute a movement directed downwards and laterally outwards towards the sides of the stack. In this movement, they come into contact in the region of the folding locations with the material web parts, be they individual sheets or longer parts to be folded in a zigzag form and press the engaged region of the material web parts downwards and outwards towards the sides of the stack. In this way, a satisfactory fold is formed at the respectively correct location, even in the case of material web sections which have neither been prefolded nor provided with lines of weakness beforehand. Also, a process for forming web parts, feeding them to a stack, and pressing them down as described.

Use of an oscillating recoil spring permits high-speed folding operations with automatically timed support for the web sections, notwithstanding the fact that the spring requires no adjustment in use and can be easily installed and replaced using readily available materials and tools. Furthermore, coupling of the spring to the feeding chute ensures that the spring does not impede web feeding but rather moves in timed relationship therewith for support purposes. The support spring assembly hereof is also advantageous in that inertia problems are minimized and support is provided along a substantial portion of the web sections in timed relation to the feeding thereof.

The apparatus has a plurality of individually rotatable tool nests which are sequentially spaced on a rotating or indexing turntable. These tool nests sequentially receive plastic packages for receiving the needle and suture at a first station. At a second station, a needle is inserted into the package by robotic fingers which have retrieved the needle and attached suture from the rotating needle feed wheel. The rotating needle feed wheel and the rotating tool nests are synchronized to step together as each advances. At a third station, the package and needle are rotated to tension the suture and position the package and the suture for automatic winding of the suture into the package. At a fourth station, the rotatable tool nest is rapidly rotated to wind the suture into a circumferential channel in the package which surrounds the needle.

It is known to use small, light weight mesh pieces having high flexural recovery, to strengthen a matrix. Such mesh pieces are very difficult to handle and package. In order to provide a suitable packaging system, mesh pieces 11 are deposited across the width of a moving run of flexible wrapping material 13 and are deposited in longitudinally overlapping relationship along the length of the wrapping material, by feeding the mesh pieces 11 on a belt 10 which moves more quickly than the wrapping material 13; the mesh pieces 11 are ejected from the end of the belt 10 onto the wrapping material 13. The direction of movement of the wrapping material 13 is inclined downwards so that the trailing ends of the mesh pieces 11 contact the wrapping material 13 before the leading ends contact the preceding mesh piece 11. The wrapping material 13, with the mesh pieces 11 on it, is then rolled up under tension into a spiral bale so that the overlapping edges curl down and prevent the mesh pieces 11 slipping out.

Assembly of a loading means with a horizontal loading surface and a strip stacker for depositing an unvulcanized rubber strip on the loading surface. The strip stacker containing a depositing mechanism with a depositing end and with a pair of conveyor belts for transporting a rubber strip vertically between the conveying belts to the depositing end and a feed conveyor for transporting a rubber strip to the depositing mechanism in a transport direction. The feed conveyor has an input end and an output end. The loading means is provided with means for variably adjusting the distance between the depositing end and the loading surface. The depositing mechanism is provided with means for moving recriprocably in one direction the depositing end with regard to the loading surface. The strip stacker is provided with means for moving the output end of the feed conveyor substantially transverse to the transport direction.

A label product in web form has alternating, oppositely indented creases in the liner of the product to produce a fan-folded stack having alternating, reversely folded plies. Each crease is substantially, if not entirely, perforation-free to maximize the strength of the liner at the fold lines. The product is preferably produced on a narrow web press in a creasing station that includes a stack of rolls wherein a first die roll is on the bottom of the stack, a second die roll is on the top of the stack, and a pair of base rolls are located in the middle of the stack between the die rolls. A blade on each die roll cooperates with a cushion on the corresponding base roll to produce a crease during every other rotation of the die roll, each of the base rolls having a smaller circumference than its corresponding die roll.
