High molecular weight polymer detergent compounds and method of making the same

Номер: GB0000731603A
Автор: LUNSTED LESTER GORDON
Принадлежит:

Propylene oxide chains are attached by polymerization to a compound with one or more reactive hydrogen atoms to produce a polymer with an average molecular weight of 900 which is then reacted with ethylene oxide to produce a product having detergent properties and with 20-90 per cent of its weight as oxyethylene groups. The preferred starting material having reactive hydrogen atoms is propylene glycol. Others mentioned are glycerol, pentaerythritol, sucrose, ethylene diamine and acetamide. In a typical example, propylene oxide was introduced as fast as it would react into a solution of sodium hydroxide in propylene glycol heated to 120 DEG C. with an atmosphere of nitrogen. After cooling, neutralization of the soda and filtering a product was obtained with an average molecular weight of 1620 determined by hydroxyl member or by acetylation. Sodium hydroxide was added to this product which was then similarly reacted with ethylene oxide to produce a product of average molecular weight of 2680 ...
