A portion of the lengthwise extent of the traveling textile article is advanced transiently within the channel upwardly from the lower end to the upward end and across the undulations, while a substantially continuous supply of cleansing liquid enters the channel at the upper end to flow downwardly against the upwardly traveling portion of the textile article for cleansing thereof. 1.
