The processor executes the system program to schedule tasks in accordance with scheduling information indicating, in a constant cycle, a period of one of a safety-related TP to which a safety-related task belongs and a non-safety-related TP to which a non-safety-related task belongs. In a task of a TP in the constant cycle, the processor stores the end information upon completion of processing in the task and brings the task into a ready state. In the scheduling, when the end information is stored, the processor inhibits allocation of the execution time even when the task in the TP in the constant cycle is in the ready state, and deletes the end information during a period between an end of the period of the TP in the constant cycle and a start of a period in a next cycle of the TP.

A dynamic environment (e.g., an automated industrial process) has multiple conditions in response to which corresponding actions are required, and comprises various equipment, control device(s) to control the equipment, and one or more sensors to generate input signal(s) representing a monitored condition of the environment. A control system for the environment comprises a master processor and one or more co-processors, wherein the master processor configures a given co-processor to evaluate only a first subset of conditions expected to occur in the environment within a specified time period (e.g., less than a response time of the master processor), and to provide first control information representing an action to be taken if a particular condition of the first subset is satisfied. The co-processor receives the input signal(s) representing the monitored condition, processes the input signal(s) so as to determine if the particular condition of the first subset is satisfied, and provides the first control information to the control devices so as to control the equipment. A control system CPU card includes a control CPU chip having a first core and a second core, and a main memory for storing information. A standby system CPU card includes a standby CPU chip having a first core and a second core, and a main memory for storing information. An I/F performs communication to allow the CPU cards to share the information. In the control system CPU card, when the first core is normal, the first core performs control calculation and outputs a calculation result. When the first core is abnormal, the second core is switched to a control core, to perform control calculation and continue output of a calculation result. When the cores are both abnormal, system switching is performed from the control system CPU card to the standby system CPU card. 1.
