An input detecting apparatus, method in a switching matrix in which a plurality of switches are provided in the form of a matrix, which discriminates a sneak pass signal current caused by overlapping keying of up to 10 switches and is provided with a switching matrix including a driver circuit, a detecting circuit, a first group of a plurality of lines (1 0 -1 6 ), each connected to the driver circuit (2), a second group of a plurality of lines (3 0 -3 6 ), each connected to the detecting circuit, and a plurality of switching devices including a resistor (6) and a switching element (5) serially arranged, one end of each switching device being connected to one of the first group of lines and the other end to one of the second group of lines, the driver circuit having a decoder (11) which in turn connects one end of each oen of the plurality of lines of the first group (1 0 -1 6 ) to an electrical source having 0 voltage, one by one, the detecting circuit having a selector ( 7) selectively connecting in turn one end of the plurality of lines of the second group (3 0 -3 6 ) to a voltage detecting circuit thereof, the rest of the end of the plurality lines of the second group being connected to a decoder in which the ends of the plurality lines of the second group are in turn opened in synchronization with the operation of the selector, and a means is provided for applying a predetermined voltage higher than the detecting voltage to detect the switching operation.

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An input signal recognition circuit for a control system having an array of momentary switching elements (hereinafter referred to as "keys") whose number is larger than that of the array of input terminals, which prevents erroneous control system operation which may occur upon simultaneous actuation of a plurality of keys. The control system with the input signal recognition circuit stably operates against key chattering and noise. The input signal recognition circuit comprises a key-board including a plurality of keys arranged in a matrix, sig-nals for sequentially sensing the actuation of keys in respective columns of the matrix, an input buffer section which responds to the sensing signals to store the key data keyed in through the key actuation, a memory section for temporarily storing the key data and a recognition section for checking the contents of the memory section to detect whether any key has been actuated and for recognizing whether a plurality of keys in different columns of the matrix have been actuated. Only when a single key is actuated or a plurality of keys in the same column are actuated does the circuit identify that the input data is effective and generates a given control command signal in the control system.

The present invention discloses a method and system for detecting hidden ghost keys on a keyboard matrix. The keyboard matrix is composed of multiple rows crossing with multiple lines that form multiple key-locating positions. The method comprises: selecting multiple preset keys from the matrix; detecting ghost keys among the matrix based on the selected preset keys; selecting multiple examining keys from the preset keys and the detected ghost keys, based on that at least one ghost key is included in the examining keys; and determining hidden ghost keys based on the examining keys. A method for forming a keyboard switching circuit without generating phantom phenomenon is disclosed. The method includes the steps of (1) forming a matrix of nodes with input/output terminals of the keyboard circuit; (2) selecting nodes from the matrix to define a reference diagonal line which divides the matrix into upper and lower portions; (3) selectively selecting nodes of the matrix in the upper and/or lower portions to define diagonal lines parallel to the reference line, the diagonal lines being located at different distance from the reference lines and the nodes of the diagonal lines forming no rectangle with each other; and (4) setting switches in the selected nodes. Since no rectangle can be formed among the switches, no reverse current may be caused by simultaneous actuation of three switches of a rectangle and thus effectively eliminating phantom phenomenon.

A circuit for coded symbol conversion has first and second memories and a switching stage. Standard code characters from a keyboard are entered into the first memory and if the entered character is one which can be represented by a single binary word the switching stage enables transmission of the single word. If the entered character is one requiring more than one binary word for representation the input is transmitted to the second memory which generates an equivalent set of binary words to represent the symbol and further transmission is delayed until all such binary words are generated.
