The present invention discloses an electronic data integrity protection device and method and a data monitoring system, wherein the device includes: a data reception unit configured to receive electronic data; a signal reception unit configured to receive an external signal; a signal processing unit configured to process the external signal in accordance with a predetermined integrity protection strategy, to output a corresponding instruction, wherein the integrity protection strategy specifies at least an integrity protection mode associated with the external signal; and an integrity protection operation unit configured to perform, in response to the instruction, integrity protection operation on the electronic data so as to generate integrity protection information. According to the technical solution of the invention, it is possible to provide appropriate integrity protection for data when an external signal occurs, realize event-driven integrity and achieve a good balance among security, resource consumption and efficiency.

In one embodiment a strong watermark is inserted in a data signal that is divided into a sequence of blocks, and a digital signature for each block is embedded in the signal via a watermark. The signal is then stored and distributed. When attempts are made to use or access the signal, the signal is checked for the presence of a watermark containing the digital signature for the desired portion of the signal. If the watermark is found, the digital signature is extracted and used to verify the authenticity of the desired portion of the signal. If not found, the signal is checked for the presence of the strong watermark, which if found causes the system to inhibit further use of the signal, and if not found further use of the signal is allowed.

It is a post-compression process for watermarking where no a priori knowledge of the underlying compression algorithm is required. Per each compressed media frame, a current unique digital signature is generated based on the data from the current compressed frame plus the digital signature that has been previously generated. The signature thus generated is then used in conjunction with the next compressed frame to generate the next unique digital signature. A verification system includes: a code generation server publicizing time stamped codes; a proving device, including a video camera, that acquires a published time stamped code from the code generation server, and, while recording a video, incorporates the acquired time stamped code into the video; and a verifying device that receives the video, extracts the time stamped code from the content of the video, compares the time stamped code to published time stamped codes, and displays a verification of the published time stamped code. 1. A verification system comprising:a code generation server publicizing time stamped codes; anda proving device, including a video camera, that acquires a published time stamped code from the code generation server, and, while recording a video, incorporates the acquired time stamped code into the video according to a published algorithm.2. The verification system of further comprising a verifying device that receives the video claim 1 , extracts the time stamped code from the content of the video claim 1 , compares the extracted time stamped code to published time stamped codes claim 1 , and displays a verification of the recorded video.3. The verification system of claim 1 , wherein the code generation server derives the time stamped code from weather parameters.4. The verification system of claim 1 , wherein the code generation server derives the time stamped code from a price of a stock index.5. The verification system of claim 1 , wherein the proving device further determines a series of motions claim 1 , each motion derived from a digit of the time stamped code claim 1 , and prompts a user of the proving device to move the video camera through the series of motions using a user interface of the proving device.6. Systems, devices and methods are provided to automatically identify advertisements or other portions of a broadcast television stream before the stream is distributed via a cable, DBS, IPTV or other medium. The television broadcast is received at the data processing system, and audio content of the television broadcast is analyzed to generate an audio fingerprint of a portion of the audio content. The identified audio fingerprint are compared to audio fingerprints stored in a database to thereby identify the portion of the television broadcast based on the generated audio fingerprint. By identifying the contents of an actual broadcast prior to redistribution of the broadcast, additional actions may be taken that are unique to the identified content.
