[Also in Divisions H1 and H2] A motor is assembled into a casing, e.g. of a coal drilling machine, by shrinking a sleeve 3 around the stator 2 and then shrinking the casing on to the sleeve. As shown, the casing is formed in two parts 1, 5 which abut centrally of the sleeve 3 and, in addition to supporting the rotor shaft 10 carry respectively a gear-box 12 containing an epicyclic gear train with nylon or other wear resistant plastic planet wheels, and a cowling 22 for a nylon or similar plastic fan 23 secured to the rotor shaft 10 externally of the casing and adapted to blow air over the exterior thereof. The casing also carries handles one of which has a spring-loaded rotatable grip (21), Fig. 2 (not shown) by means of which a micro-switch (17) in the casing may be actuated.
