Shaft 9 may be shifted axially to a position where subsequent rotation thereof actuates one or the other of two rams 21, 22. If ram 22 is to be extended, the shaft 9, in the axial position shown, is rotated anticlockwise, opening valve 5 and closing pressurizing valve 3 through respective cams 11, 8. When the desired extension is attained, shaft 9 is returned to the neutral position, locking ram 22, and opening valve 3. If the ram is to be exhausted the shaft 9 is rotated in the opposite direction, opening valve 5, and maintaining valve 3 open. If ram 21 is to be actuated, shaft 9 is shifted axially against a biasing-spring 17 to the left. The cam 8 locked to the shaft 9 is thereby disengaged from freely-mounted cam 11 and locked to a cam 10 which now operates valve 4 upon rotation of shaft 9. Valve 3 is spring-urged to the open position, so that if excessive pressure builds up, it opens against the action of shaft 9. The invention may be extended to the control of more than two rams.
