[Class 87 (ii)] A reinforcement consisting of a tailored paper or a paper-pulp preform is placed within a mould cavity to extend over a part of the cavity that defines a thin-walled portion of the article to be made, and then fluid resinous material is forced through a restricted orifice into the mould cavity. The drawing shows a mould for making a fountain pen barrel, comprising a core 12 over which the reinforcement is fitted and a sleeve 10. The mould is filled with heated material by means of a nozzle 16, the reinforcement being thereby partly or wholly impregnated. The paper or paper-pulp preform may be coated or partly or wholly impregnated with a resinous material before its application to the mould, and this pre-impregnating material may be similar to, indentical with or different from the material used for filling the mould, e.g. cresylic varnish may be used for pre-impregnation and phenolic moulding material for filling the mould. The resinous material used may be thermoplastic, thermosetting, synthetic or natural. The article made may be a bowl, beaker or shell primer liner.
