Improvements relating to sliding clasp fasteners
Реферат: 837,991. Sliding clasp fasteners. MARKOFF-MOGHADAM, L. Nov. 5, 1957 [Dec. 12, 1956], No. 34457/57. Class 44 A slider for a sliding clasp fastener having interengaging stringer elements of resilient material, is provided with spring means mounted thereon and travelling therewith to apply a transverse compression to the stringer elements during longitudinal movement of the slide in the coupling direction, and anti-friction means facilitating the movement of the slider in the coupling and uncoupling directions. In the arrangement shown in which a pair of continuous flexible stringer elements 1, 2 are secured to strips 5, 6 by which the fastener is attached to the parts to be coupled together, the elements 1, 2 are brought into and out of engagement by a slider 3 comprising a lid element 9 and an outer part provided with a pull tab 4. The lid element 9 includes protuberances 10 which ride in grooves 11 in the top of the elements 1, 2. Grooves 15 along the outer side faces of the elements 1, 2 and cavities 16 in the side wall portions of the lid element 9 form housings for balls 14 which are retained in engagement with the elements 1, 2 by spring 13 disposed between the element 9 and the outer part of the slider. The slider is also provided with a wedge member which separates the elements 1, 2 as the slider is moved in the direction to uncouple the elements. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the strips 5 and 6 are formed integral with the elements 1, 2 and the balls 14 are replaced by inwardly projecting bulges on the side walls of the lid element which engage grooves along the elements 1, 2. In another arrangement Figs. 7-9 (not shown), the lid element is replaced by side wall strips having outwardly directed flanges which are supported by inwardly directed shoulders on the outer part of the slider. The strips are engaged with the fastener elements through the spring-loaded ball arrangement described with reference to Fig. 2. In all arrangements the fastener elements and slider are formed from rubber or synthetic plastic materials. In the case of relatively rigid synthetic materials, the fastener elements 1, 2 may be formed as relatively short links attached to the strips 5, 6.
