Organosiloxane block copolymers
Реферат: <FORM:1057423/C3/1> wherein each R and each R1 is a methyl, ethyl, phenyl or vinyl radical, x is an integer of from 5 to 400 and y is 0 or an integer of from 1 to 40, there being on each siloxane block (the average R/Si ratio being 1.9 to 2.0) at least 2 Si-bonded oxygen atoms each having an unsatisfied valency bond attached to (2) a coupling unit bonded to block (1) through the Si-bonded oxygen atoms which has the general formula <FORM:1057423/C3/2> wherein Z is a <FORM:1057423/C3/3> radical and n is 0 or 1, the coupling units (2) joining block (1) to (3) blocks of the unit general formula R11SiO 3/2, wherein R11 is an aryl, alkaryl or halo-aryl radical, through the oxygen atoms of (2) designated -O 1/2, the amount of blocks (1) is from 5-99 mol. per cent and the amount of blocks (3) is from 1 to 95 mol. per cent based on the total amount of (1) and (3) present. The copolymer can be made by (A) reacting a siloxane of the formula <FORM:1057423/C3/4> with a compound of the general formula Y-SiX3, wherein Y is halogen, -OSiCl3, -OSiBr3, <FORM:1057423/C3/5> or -SiCl3 and X is halogen, the compound being present in an amount of at least one mol. per -OH group of the siloxane; (B) thereafter mixing the reaction product formed in (A) with a compound which is (a) a silane of the formula R11SiX3; or (b) a hydrolysate of (a) or (c) a mixture of (a) and (b); and (C) hydrolysing the resulting mixture to form the desired block copolymer. The coupling reaction is usually effected in moisture-free solvent solution and in the presence of an acid acceptor, and the hydrolysis is effected in the presence of a condensation catalyst, many examples of which are given. The products are resinous when x + y = 5 to 95 and rubbery when x + y = 110 to 400. The products, optionally mixed with known fillers, pigments and additives, can be cured to resins or rubbers by adding curing catalysts, e.g. amines, metal carboxylates and salts such as tetramethylguanidine octoate, and allowing the system to set at ambient temps. or by heating slightly. In a typical example (1) a toluene solution of an hydroxy-terminated dimethylpolysiloxane was added to a toluene solution of SiCl4 and pyridine and agitated for 30 minutes, then C6H5SiCl3 was added thereto and the mixture was poured into water and heated to 75 DEG C.; the organic solution was separated from the aqueous phase, washed, azeotroped dry, and then refluxed, after addition of potassium phenoxide, to give a solution which, after purifying and freeing of solvent, yield the desired block copolymer. Uses: the resins are used in coating, encapsulating, laminating and moulding applications, and the rubbers are used for shock-resistant materials, electrical insulation, gasketting, cloth coating and sealing compounds.
