[Class 38 (iv).] Voltage regulators for three-phase generators are so compounded as to maintain the " right-away voltage star " (positive phase sequence component of the generator voltage) under unbalanced load conditions. For this purpose a voltage from corresponding impedances Ks traversed by current in the two phases 2, 3 from which the potential applied to the regulator R is derived is introduced into one regulator circuit. The impedances are so chosen that their phase angles have a mutual difference of 60 degrees whilst their numerical values are equal. Portions of these impedances may be common. The voltage drop in the machine itself may be compensated for by further impedances Kg and these impedances may be combined with others K1 effecting external or line compounding. The regulator may also be connected in series with impedances traversed by currents proportional to the neutral point currents and compensating for the effect of such currents on the main regulation.
