Improvements in or relating to electrolytic capacitors and to electrodes for use therein
Реферат: A duplex oxide dielectric coating is formed on an aluminium electrode by first electrolytically depositing, in a molten salt bath, an adherent film of porous substantially non-hydratable alpha alumina, and thereafter treating the film coated electrode in a "barrier" type electrolyte so as to form a dense non-porous film of gamma alumina in the interstices of the porous film. The alpha alumina film is produced by using molten salt containing sulphate anions e.g. potassium bisulphate, ammonium bisulphate or mixtures thereof with sodium bisulphate having a melting point within the range 145 DEG C. to 245 DEG C. The subsequent barrier type electrolytic treatment is effected within the temperature range 15 DEG C-50 DEG C. in a conventional electrolyte of e.g. ammonium borate, boric or tartaric acid or ammonium borate dissolved in ethylene glycol.
