Реферат: 1349842 Moulding cable joints BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 19 April 1971 [19 March 1970] 13249/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division H2] A cable joint comprises a joint sleeve 8 with one or more cables entering at each end, at least one of the cables 1 being surrounded by a cast resin body 5 adhering to a waterproof sheath of the cable with the joint sleeve at least partly surrounding and in sealed engagement with a surface of the resin body 5. The end of a strippedback metal sheath 2 is bound with tape 4 and by means of a mould, formed, e.g. by building- up end walls with tape and a flexible circumferential wall of sheet plastics. Alternatively a cup-shaped mould with an apertured base may be used if the cable is vertical. The body 5, is cast from acrylic resin in situ, adhering to both the metal sheath 2 and a plastics sheath 3. The mould may be removed or left in position after casting. A seamless uniform-diameter joint sleeve 8 (preferably of PVC) is sealed to the body 5 by epoxy resin putty and paper tape 9. Earth connections 7 and a pressure tapping 6 may be cast into the body. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the sleeve may have a longitudinal split (14) which on assembly is filled with cast resin also used to seal the sleeve to the body, a mould for casting the resin being formed by adhesive strips (15) of expanded polyethylene and split tubing (15). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,239,014.
