Improvements in or relating to hydraulic valve operating mechanism which is self-adjusting to take up clearance in the valve mechanism
Реферат: 423,622. Valve gear. STEVENS, A. H., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.- (Wilcox-Rich Corporation ; 9771, French Road, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.) Nov. 9, 1933, No. 31252. [Class 7 (vi)] In hydraulic mechanism for automatically taking up clearance, the tappet comprises an upper portion 15 sliding under spring control 17 in the hollow lower portion 2, which is further fitted with a seating member 9 for a ball valve 12 controlling communication between the space beneath the tappet portion 15 and the reservoir 6, within the lower tappet part 2, to which oil is supplied by a pipe 100 and passages 18, 19. The member 9 has a tubular depending portion 10 which prevents air or gas bubbles from being induced past the ball valve. Some of the oil escapes through small passages 20, 21 to keep up a renewal of the supply to the device. In a modification, the member 9 has an upward sleeve extension surrounding the tappet portion 15, and this extension is formed with a groove allowing the air or gas which collects at the top of the chamber 6 to escape. In a further form, Fig. 6, a pair of spring-pressed wedges 58 are arranged under the correspondingly inclined lower surface of the tappet member 54, the oil serving to lock the wedges in the position which they automatically take up.
