Class 38 (v) A switch casing is protected against fire damp by providing it with a cover 1 that, in closing, is first swung about a hinge pin 7 and is then moved downwards in the direction of the hinge axis to cause the engagement of co-operating cam surfaces on the cover and the casing, one of the cam surfaces being a fixture and the other being adjustable. In the form shown a fixed cam surface 13 is formed at each corner of the lid and co-operates with the under surface 18 of the head of a screw that is screwed into the casing 2 slantwise and finally fixed by a pin 17, when the best adjustment has been found. Each cam surface 13 is formed in an oval "eye" in the corner of the lid, the eye comprising a circular hole 11, that can take the screw head and a semi-circular hole 12 that can can take the neck of the screw.
